Job summary

JPMorganChase in Mumbai is seeking an Analyst for Global Technology Controllers to provide controllership support for the technology function under US GAAP and JPMorgan standards.

You will determine capitalization versus expense, support month-end closes, and partner with Technology, P&A, Business Management and Procurement to sustain strong governance and accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Review work-in-progress balances, perform aging analyses, and clear to assets or expense as criteria are met.
• Reconcile WIP balances with upstream systems and validate against purchase orders and capitalization requests.
• Capitalize qualifying assets by evaluating projects against thresholds and determining key dates and useful lives.
• Document analytics through estimates, controller reviews, and flash reports.
• Communicate variances between general ledger and upstream systems and resolve issues.
• Ensure balance sheet positions are supported and audit-ready.
• Maintain strong governance over capitalization and expense classifications.

As an Analyst within the Global Technology Controllers in Corporate Sector Controllers, you will be responsible for providing controllership support to the technology function, including accounting for technology in accordance with US GAAP and JPMC standards.

Global Technology Controller provide controllership support to technology function in to Hardware, Software, Professional services and other direct expense lines. Team is also responsible for capitalization of tangible or intangible assets.

Job Responsibilities

• Determine expense versus capitalization treatment, ensure timely disposal recognition, and post close entries with appropriate support and approvals.
• Partner with Technology, P&A, Business Management, and Procurement to align on project scope, in-service dates, and cutover timing, and maintain SOX-compliant controls and audit-ready evidence.
• Perform ongoing review of work-in-process ledger balances, including aging analysis, root-cause identification, and timely clearing to fixed assets or expense when criteria are met.
• Reconcile WIP balances to upstream project and procurement systems and validate against purchase orders, capitalization requests, and approvals.
• Capitalize qualifying assets by evaluating projects against thresholds and criteria and determining start/stop capitalization dates, place-in-service dates, useful lives, and residual values.
• Validate operational impacts and future benefit assumptions with Technology and business stakeholders and record entries accurately and timely in the general ledger.
• Ensure balance sheet positions are appropriately supported to maintain a strong fortress balance sheet.
• Document analytics through estimates, walk-forwards, controller financial reviews, and flash reports.
• Analyze, communicate, and resolve material variances between the general ledger and upstream systems, as defined by the line of business.

Required Qualifications, Skills, And Capabilities

• 3 years of related experience
• General Ledger experience
• Experience with financial reporting and month end close responsibilities
• Comfortable liaising with business and risk managers
• Able to build and maintain partnerships within the various product aligned businesses and across other corporate financial, treasury, and accounting groups
• Able to understand business drivers and requirements and influence middle and front office partners to deliver solutions to business issues and problems
• Strong analytical skills: Ability to quickly understand workings of a complex processing system and general ledger systems across the infrastructure and their interrelationships and dependencies
• Excellent desktop/spreadsheet/database skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to multi-task in a constantly changing environment
• Able to critically challenge with the goal of identifying control issues

• Existing relationships and networks within the firm's IB community an advantage
• Shift Timing: Mid-day shift 1pm to 10pm
