Job summary

Maersk, a global leader in logistics, is hiring a senior cost controller in Pune, India. The role focuses on month-end close, cost accounting, and reporting across multiple cost centers.

You will drive cost transparency, performance improvements, and standardized processes with a strong control framework. The ideal candidate holds a CA/MBA in Finance with 7+ years in cost controlling, P&L analysis, and financial reporting, and communicates effectively in English.

Qualifications

• Professional finance degree with strong control framework knowledge.
• Minimum 7 years experience in cost controlling and P&L analysis.
• Excellent analytical and written/verbal English.

Responsibilities

• Manage preparation of month end close reporting.
• Month-end close, GL accounting and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Review & validate cost records and analyze cost trends per cost center.
• Conduct moderately complex cost audits under limited supervision.
• Ensure controls and compliance checks are performed and signed off.
• Perform cost analysis and explain cost drivers behind variances.
• Ensure accurate and timely cost reporting.
• Develop recommendations to minimize risk and improve performance.
• Standardize and align processes across company codes.

Key activities/responsibilities would be:

1. Manage preparation of month end close reporting.

2. Strong exposure to Month-end Close, GL Accounting and Balance sheet reconciliation.

3. Review & validate the cost records and analyse cost trend per cost center.

4. Conduct moderately complex cost audits under limited supervision.

5. Ensure all necessary controls and compliance checks are performed on periodic basis and duly signed off.

6. Perform detailed cost analysis and provide explanations/ cost drivers behind periodic variance.

7. Ensure accurate and timely cost reporting.

8. Develop recommendations and implement changes to processes and systems that will minimise risk, improve performance and productivity.

9. Standardize and align processes across different company codes.

Required experience & skills :

1. Solid financial educational background as Cost Accountant, Chartered Accountant or MBA in Finance and good understanding of control framework.

2. Minimum 7 years of experience within cost controlling, cost accounting, P&L analysis etc.

3. Self-motivated and continuously looks for opportunities to improve financial reporting and processes by exploring new approaches and ideas.

4. Excellent analytical and structured working method.

5. High competency in written and verbal English.

6. Adapts easily to a fast-changing environment and ability to handle phases with high workload and unplanned activities.

7. Team player - works together with others to achieve results and fosters teamwork.

8. Shipping/ Transportation industry experience would be an added advantage but not mandatory.
