Job summary

LEAMS Education Services (Gamma Holdings Ltd.) in Ernakulam, Kerala, invites applications for a creative Fashion Designer who will develop innovative clothing designs and coordinate with tailoring and production teams to ensure quality output.

The candidate should have knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, pattern making, and fashion illustration, with 2–3 years' relevant experience; proficiency in Illustrator or CorelDRAW is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Fashion Designing, Apparel Designing, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, pattern making, and fitting.
• Proficiency in fashion illustration and design software such as Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW will be an advantage.
• Experience in boutique operations, customised clothing, or women's wear is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop creative designs for women's wear, ethnic wear, casual wear, and other clothing collections.
• Create fashion sketches, design concepts, and mood boards.
• Research current fashion trends, colours, fabrics, and market preferences.
• Develop new collections based on seasonal trends and customer requirements.
• Coordinate fabric sourcing and material selection according to design requirements and budget.
• Prepare garment specifications, measurements, and technical drawings.
• Develop patterns and coordinate sample garment preparation.
• Ensure proper fitting, finishing, and quality of garments.
• Coordinate with tailors, pattern makers, and production staff to execute designs.
• Monitor the garment-making process to ensure designs are implemented accurately.
• Conduct quality checks and ensure timely completion of orders.
• Understand customer preferences and provide suitable design suggestions.
• Develop customised designs based on customer requirements.
• Coordinate measurements, fittings, alterations, and final delivery.
• Maintain customer satisfaction through quality designs and service.
• Maintain design records, fabric details, samples, and measurement specifications.
• Coordinate with the store team regarding fabric and accessory availability.
• Support new collection launches, photoshoots, and promotional activities when required.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fashion Design & Development

• Develop creative designs for women's wear, ethnic wear, casual wear, and other clothing collections.
• Create fashion sketches, design concepts, and mood boards.
• Research current fashion trends, colours, fabrics, and market preferences.
• Develop new collections based on seasonal trends and customer requirements.

2. Fabric & Material Selection

• Select suitable fabrics, colours, prints, accessories, and embellishments.
• Understand fabric quality, texture, durability, and suitability for different garments.
• Coordinate fabric sourcing and material selection according to design requirements and budget.

3. Pattern Making & Garment Construction

• Prepare garment specifications, measurements, and technical drawings.
• Develop patterns and coordinate sample garment preparation.
• Ensure proper fitting, finishing, and quality of garments.
• Suggest alterations and improvements based on fitting trials.

4. Tailoring & Production Coordination

• Coordinate with tailors, pattern makers, and production staff to execute designs.
• Monitor the garment-making process to ensure designs are implemented accurately.
• Conduct quality checks and ensure timely completion of orders.
• Resolve design and fitting issues during production.

5. Customer Coordination

• Understand customer preferences and provide suitable design suggestions.
• Develop customised designs based on customer requirements.

• Maintain customer satisfaction through quality designs and service.

6. Collection & Inventory Management

• Maintain design records, fabric details, samples, and measurement specifications.
