Job summary

Venttup Ventures in Bangalore seeks a hands-on Factory Manager to lead a new R&D-focused manufacturing unit, overseeing machine shop, assembly, tooling, and end-to-end operations. You will drive NPD, localisation, and reverse engineering initiatives, coordinate with design/engineering for DFM, manage vendors, procurement, and shop-floor teams, and establish SOPs for production excellence.

Qualifications

• 10-15 years' experience in factory/production management, with NPD, localisation, and reverse engineering.
• Hands-on knowledge of conventional and CNC machining, tooling, and process planning.
• Strong vendor development and negotiation experience; independent shop-floor management.

Responsibilities

• Set up and manage a new R&D/prototyping unit's factory operations (machine shop, assembly, tooling).
• Lead NPD execution: process planning, tooling, jigs & fixtures, cycle time optimization.
• Drive localisation and reverse engineering projects; component analysis and vendor development.
• Own vendor management, procurement of machined components, and multi-vendor strategies.
• Oversee production planning, CAPA, quality docs, and track timelines.

Job Title: Factory Manager R&D Unit (Venttup)

Experience: 10-15 Years

About the Role:

We're setting up a new R&D-focused manufacturing unit and are looking for a hands-on Factory Manager to lead end-to-end factory operations, with strong exposure to NPD, Localisation, and Reverse Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and manage factory operations for a new R&D/prototyping unit — machine shop, assembly, tooling
• Lead New Product Development (NPD) execution: process planning (PPC), tooling, jigs & fixtures, cycle time optimization
• Drive Localisation and Reverse Engineering projects — component analysis, indigenization, vendor development
• Own vendor management: sourcing, evaluation, rate negotiation, multi-vendor development to reduce dependency risk
• Manage procurement of machined components, mechanical/electrical bought-outs (PLC, HMI, switchgear, pneumatics)
• Oversee production planning, CAPA, quality documentation (PFD, process sheets, checklists)
• Track project timelines — planned vs. actual — and resolve production bottlenecks
• Coordinate with design/engineering teams on DFM, tolerance optimization, and cost reduction
• Build and lead the production/shop-floor team; set SOPs and operational control procedures

Requirements:

• 10-15 years' experience in Factory/Production Management, with strong exposure to NPD, Localisation, and Reverse Engineering
• Hands-on knowledge of conventional & CNC machining (VMC, EDM, CNC lathe), tooling, and process planning
• Proven vendor development and negotiation track record
• Experience managing machine shop + assembly operations independently
• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Strong analytical, team leadership, and problem-solving skills
