Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Maharashtra, India is seeking a seasoned Facilities Engineer to oversee building systems, manage complex renovation projects, and mentor junior staff. The role requires hands-on operation of test cells, coordination with contractors, and strong procurement with Ariba/SAP.

You will document maintenance, ensure safety standards, and drive continuous improvements across site facilities, including utilities, HVAC, and safety systems on a 24x7 basis.

Qualifications

  • BE/B-Tech in Mechanical Engg/Production Engg with 12-15 Yrs of industrial Experience.
  • Experience operating test cells and managing facility equipment.
  • Knowledge of welding, machining, drilling, shearing & metal forming processes.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, maintains and repairs plant equipment, buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees the functioning of building systems including electrical, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Condition (HVAC), structural, mechanical, fire/life safety, etc.
  • Leads project management and oversees contractors for complex facilities renovation projects entailing mechanical, structural, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Condition (HVAC), electrical, production floor arrangement, etc.
  • Documents repairs and maintenance completed.
  • Trains less experienced Facilities Engineers, technicians and line workers on complex repairs and maintenance requirements.
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced Facilities Engineers.

  • Facilities Design and Development - Plans and manages the design of facilities considering the requirements and needs of owners and occupants of the facility; manages and supports site construction activities in compliance to building standards.
  • Facility Technology Management - Plans, directs and manages facility management business and operational technologies; evaluates, implements and operates integrated workplace management systems; conducts assessments and collaborates on facility management technology needs analysis including audio, visual, and Information Technology capacity and phone systems.
  • Project Management - Establishes and maintains the balance of scope, schedule and resources for a temporary effort (a “project”). Ensures results/impact from temporary effort are fully realized as possible.

College, university, or equivalent degree required.

Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.

BE/B-Tech in Mechanical Engg/Production Engg with min 12-15 Yrs of industrial Experience. This position supports test cell operation 24X7 including Sundays & should have following exposure.

  • Leads ITO Fabrication Shop & Shift leader managing facility equipment breakdown for engine test cells.
  • Should have user level knowledge of types of welding, machining, drilling, shearing & metal forming process similar to Tool room. (Welding certification will be an added advantage).
  • Knowledge of automotive engine & standards of installation will be an added advantage.
  • Must have user level knowledge of MHE & PIV equipment maintenance & understanding of test cell facility equipment’s.
  • User level knowledge required for Maintenance related works like hydraulic system, industrial furnaces/cold chamber, HVAC.
  • User level knowledge of utility drawing, distribution system, P & IDs , basic industrial safety & LOTO, energy conservation, 5S, LOTO, ISO & HSEMS is must
  • Manages departmental OPEX budget.
  • Inventory management & spares procurement knowledge & usage of procurement tools Ariba/ SAP
  • Contractors/suppliers management.
  • Very good communication skill with all stakeholders/internal customers & manages priority as per demand.
