Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Foundation Without is hiring a full-time facilitator for its Totto-Chan Club in Pune. You will build trust with households, sit with families, and guide learners across four shifts, focusing on foundational literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy.
The role requires Marathi fluency and comfort working with waste-picker communities to foster consistent learning and confidence. Your workday is onsite, with 5 days weekly, from 10:00am to 8:00pm, and includes a 3-month mutual incubation probation.
What if the most important thing you brought to this role wasn\'t a lesson plan, but the willingness to knock on a door, sit with a family on their terms, and bring a child back into the room the next day?
We\'re looking for someone who understands that learning here doesn\'t start in the classroom. It starts with a relationship with a household, often one that has had a difficult or inconsistent history with formal education. This role has two halves that can\'t really be separated: going into the community to build the trust that gets children to show up, and then, once they\'re in the room, noticing who\'s holding back, who\'s ready to move ahead, and what each learner needs next?
This is not a role for someone who wants to simply “deliver sessions” to whoever happens to be present. It\'s for someone who wants to build both the pipeline of trust that brings children from marginalised community households into the program, and the space where their learning can actually happen once they\’re there. You\’ll work closely with children of the age group of 10 and above, to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), build digital literacy, and create a learning environment where children can develop the confidence, skills, and agency to become independent decision-makers.
Totto-Chan Club is Foundation Without\'s flagship education intervention, run in partnership with Apni Pathshala. The learning POD serves both children and adults from waste-picker and sanitation worker households, with 30+ learners currently enrolled. The program works on foundational English, Math, and digital literacy, with this role primarily focused on supporting the children\’s learning, development, and engagement.
Learners are grouped into four bands, from pre-literacy through independent, aligned with ASER benchmarks. The 24-month goal is Grade 4 level foundational competency, but there\'s no fixed timeline for any individual learner; movement between literacy bands is based on fixed benchmark accomplishment and on facilitator\'s judgment call.
Sessions run across four shifts, Tuesday to Friday and Sunday. The Facilitator will be the daily human anchor of this space, and just as importantly, its bridge into the surrounding community.
What You\’ll Do
Community mobilisation
Build and hold relationships with our 30 cohort household, many of whom have limited trust in formal institutions and formal learning
Be a visible, familiar, trusted presence in the community
Sit with parents and guardians to talk through a learner\'s progress, address hesitations, and explain what the Club offers and why consistency matters.
Notice early when a learner\'s attendance is slipping, and follow up personally, in partnership with the Field Associate, before it becomes a pattern.
Help families see Totto-Chan Club as something built with the community, not delivered at it
Facilitation and Guidance
Facilitate English, Math, Digital Literacy sessions by integrating socio-emotional modes of learning.
Adapt your teaching in real time so a room with learners in four different bands doesn\'t leave anyone behind or unchallenged.
Observe and record where each learner sits on the band spectrum, based on sustained pattern, not a single assessment
Run regular one-on-one check-ins to understand each learner\'s confidence and progress, not just their output.
Use peer-paired exercises, role-plays, and reflection circles as the everyday vehicle for confidence and social-emotional growth, not as a separate add-on
Maintain observation logs on behaviour, pacing, and confidence, and flag early patterns such as retention issues or confidence gaps
Be the first point of contact when a learner or family raises a concern, and respond to it
Contribute to a shared, evolving understanding of each learner\’s context and journey with the rest of the team
What we are looking for
Prior experience in working with Marathi-speaking communities.
Comfort in the community as much as in the classroom: you\'re as willing to sit on a doorstep as you are to run a lesson.
Complete fluency in Marathi and professional proficiency in English are required. The facilitator should be able to read, write, and speak Marathi, Hindi, and English confidently and effectively.
Genuine ease with the waste-picker and sanitation worker community\'s day-to-day realities.
A facilitator\'s mindset: you guide, adapt, and respond, rather than lecture.
Multi-level comfort: you can hold a room with learners at very different starting points without losing anyone.
Sharp observation: you notice shifts in behaviour, confidence, and pace before they become problem.
Reflective practice: you\'re willing to document, question, and adjust your own approach.
Patience with the process: some families and learners will take time to trust you, and that\'s expected, not a failure.
Daily reliability: trust here is built through repetition, not intensity.
There are four learning sessions scheduled across the day, covering morning, afternoon, and two evening slots. The working days are Tuesday to Friday and Sunday.
Probation: There will be a 3-month mutual incubation period. Both you and we will have the option to end the agreement after three months if it isn\'t working out.
Working days and hours: 5 days a week. Work timings are from 10:00am to 8:00pm
Location: Foundation Without office, MIDC, Bhosari, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune.
Work mode: Fully onsite. The facilitator is expected to present at the learning POD for sessions, learner support, and programme-related activities.
Compensation: Annual Cost-to-Company (CTC) between INR 3 - 3.5 lakhs, based on experience and market standards, with provisions for variable compensation based on performance.
Benefits: We provide benefits such as paid leaves, health insurance reimbursement, unmonitored vacation and travel reimbursements.
