Job summary

Macquarie Group is seeking a QA Automation Expert to lead complex quality engineering and test automation across cloud-native and AI-enabled applications. You will design scalable automation, solve challenging testing problems, and drive improvements using Playwright, AWS/GCP, CI/CD, and AI-assisted testing.

We value strong Python or JavaScript/TypeScript skills, experience with API and end-to-end testing, and a track record of delivering high-quality software in distributed environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Quality Engineering and Test Automation with hands-on expertise in modern frameworks.
• Strong programming in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript and scalable automation design.
• Experience automating tests across web apps, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.

What role will you play?

In this role as a QA Automation Expert, you will independently drive complex quality engineering and test automation initiatives across cloud-native, distributed, and AI-enabled applications. You will have the opportunity to build scalable automation solutions, solve challenging testing problems, contribute to automation and engineering improvements, and leverage modern technologies including Playwright, AWS/GCP, CI/CD, and AI-assisted testing to enhance quality engineering effectiveness.

What You Offer

• 5+ years’ experience in Quality Engineering and Test Automation, with strong hands‑on expertise in frameworks such as Playwright, Serenity, Pytest, Cucumber, or similar technologies.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript, with proven experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable automation frameworks using sound software engineering principles, design patterns, and code quality standards.
• Proven experience automating functional, regression, integration, API, and end‑to‑end testing across web applications, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud‑native architectures, supported by strong test data management and data quality practices.
• Strong understanding of modern quality engineering practices, including BDD, TDD, Shift‑Left Testing, Risk‑Based Testing, continuous testing, and SQL/database validation across data warehouses, data lakes, and platforms such as BigQuery.
• Experience implementing automated testing within CI/CD pipelines and validating applications deployed on AWS and/or GCP, with a strong focus on framework scalability, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
• Practical experience leveraging AI‑assisted engineering tools to improve testing efficiency and automation coverage, with knowledge of quality engineering considerations for AI‑enabled applications, including model evaluation, reliability testing, and guardrail validation.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills with a high degree of ownership; experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Jira/Xray, custom testing tools, AI agents, or Asset Management and Financial Services domains is advantageous.
