Job summary

Coats Group in Ambasamudram seeks an Executive – Engineer to oversee daily shift maintenance for thread dyeing and finishing operations. You will manage equipment, utilities, electrical systems, and automation to maximize uptime.

You will implement preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance, drive MTTR/MTBF improvements, collaborate with production and energy teams, and support safety, energy management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or electrical & Electronics Engineering.
  • 3-6+ years of maintenance experience in Textile, Thread Dyeing, Yarn Dyeing, or Process Manufacturing industries.
  • Experience in shift maintenance operations and troubleshooting of industrial equipment.
  • Experience with Pump Maintenance & Steam line operation & Pneumatic operation
  • Knowledge of TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma tools.
  • Experience in Heat exchanger & Condensate recovery system
  • Experience in Compressor & Air Dryer system
  • Strong knowledge of Industrial Mechanical Maintenance.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies.
  • Understanding of utility systems, compressors, pumps, and energy management.
  • Familiarity with RCA, CAPA, TPM, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Understanding of safety standards, LOTO systems, and inventory management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily shift maintenance activities in thread dyeing & finishing operations.
  • Manage operation and maintenance of thread dyeing & finishing machinery, utility systems, electrical equipment, and automation systems to ensure maximum equipment availability.
  • Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment through preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance practices.
  • Plan and allocate maintenance manpower effectively for shift activities to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Attend and resolve equipment breakdowns within targeted response times.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring failures and implement CAPA.
  • Monitor machine breakdown trends and maintain maintenance history records for analysis and improvement.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance plans to improve equipment reliability and availability.
  • Support maintenance KPIs including MTTR, MTBF, machine availability, and downtime reduction.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Utility, and Engineering teams to ensure smooth shift operations.
  • Support installation, commissioning, modification, and improvement projects related to thread dyeing & finishing operations.
  • Monitor low Right First Time machines and support initiatives to improve RFT percentage.
  • Review utility consumption and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Monitor compressor performance and optimize compressed air consumption.
  • Review daily energy consumption using ESG monitoring systems.
  • Identify and implement energy conservation opportunities.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and reduction of utility operating costs.
  • Ensure efficient operation of power, water, compressed air, and process utility systems.

Role Purpose:

  • Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment through preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance practices. Support achievement of production, quality, safety, and energy management objectives.

Principal Accountabilities:

Key Result Areas

  • Maintain adequate inventory of critical spare parts to avoid production downtime.
  • Identify high consumption spares and conduct RCA to reduce repeat failures.
  • Ensure timely procurement and replenishment of critical maintenance parts.
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels through effective spare management practices.

Safety

  • Ensure implementation and sustainability of 6S standards in all maintenance work areas.
  • Follow and enforce electrical safety procedures and LOTO requirements.
  • Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and statutory requirements.
  • Promote safe work practices during all maintenance activities.

Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of Industrial Mechanical Maintenance.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies.
  • Understanding of utility systems, compressors, pumps, and energy management.
  • Familiarity with RCA, CAPA, TPM, and continuous improvement practices.
