Job summary

Swiss Re in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced ESM ServiceNow DevSecOps Engineer II to design, develop, and secure enterprise ServiceNow solutions. You will collaborate with product owners, business analysts and solution architects to deliver complex workflows and integrations.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, mentoring, and a “you build it, you run it” mindset, with a focus on Service Portal customization, API security, and robust testing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience.
• Strong understanding of OOP concepts.
• Experience in designing, configuring, and customizing Service Portal.
• Deep expertise in the ServiceNow platform, including security implementation and building scripted REST APIs, HTML/CSS, AJAX, JSON, AngularJS.
• Ability to generate data models and translate low-level designs into implementation code.
• Experience in creating automated tests at the use-case level to build a robust regression suite.
• DevSecOps mind-set of “You build it – You run it”.

Responsibilities

• Development and implementation of complex workflows, business processes, and applications, delivering entire epics independently while adhering to guardrails and best practices.
• Mentor junior developers, providing support through work reviews and peer testing to ensure the quality of deliverables.

About the role

In this role, you will closely collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and solution architects to develop advanced solutions. Your ability to understand the broader organizational context will be essential as you contribute to building complex workflows and business processes.

Key Responsibilities

Development and Implementation

• Build comprehensive knowledge and maintain a strong understanding of the various applications within the squad to ensure effective development
• Involved in development of complex workflows, business processes, and applications, delivering entire epics independently while adhering to established guardrails and best practices.
• Good troubleshooting skills ensuring operational issues are addressed in a timely manner.
• Build integrations with external systems using SOAP/REST protocols and handle data transformation as required.
• Effectively manage operational aspects of development to ensure smooth execution.

Quality Assurance

• Mentor junior developers, providing support through work reviews and peer testing to ensure the quality of deliverables is maintained.
• Conduct peer reviews to promote best practices and enhance overall team performance.

Self-Organization

• Demonstrate strong self-organization skills a sense of ownership in work and deliverables
• Willing to learn, up-skill and have a drive for professional development
• Show true teamwork, have a flexible and team-based approach to working with the ability to work independently and take personal accountability
• 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience
• Good understanding of OOPs concepts
• Experience in designing, configuring, and customizing Service Portal to deliver intuitive, user-friendly self-service experiences.
• Deep expertise in the ServiceNow platform, including security implementation and building scripted REST APIs, HTML/CSS, AJAX, JSON, AngularJS
• Ability to generate data models and translate low-level designs into implementation code.
• Experience in creating automated tests at the use-case level to build a robust regression suite
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills
• DevSecOps mind-set of “You build it – You run it”

Nice to have:

• Proficiency on Identity and Access management process
• Understanding of CICD process
• Prior experience on any object-oriented programming languages
