Job summary

ISS STOXX seeks ESG Analysts to join our Mumbai research team to collect and analyze ESG data for our ESG Ratings offerings. You will review sustainability reports, annual reports and company websites, applying ISS ESG's methodology to extract qualitative and quantitative insights.

Based in Mumbai, you will collaborate with global colleagues and contribute to producing high-quality research that informs our environmental, social and governance assessments and ratings framework.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in international relations, development studies, environmental science, or international human rights desirable.
• MBA with sustainability concentration desirable; knowledge of financial markets is an advantage.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience in sustainability, financial services, ESG research/sustainable finance, think tanks.
• Excellent English language skills, both written and oral.
• Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) proficiency.
• Experience with sustainability topics or key sectors, with data collection or business research is an advantage.
• Integrity, organisational skills, attention to detail, self-driven work ethic; ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in a rapidly evolving field.
• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and balancing production with quality.
• Strong research and analytical skills including planning, delivery and quality control.
• Ability to process large amounts of data and information quickly.

Responsibilities

• Gather ESG data from disclosures (sustainability and annual reports, corporate websites) and perform ESG data processing and analysis per ISS ESG methodology.
• Track and monitor developments and trends across industries of specialization.
• Take ownership of production targets and deliver research within defined timelines and quality standards.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely production without compromising quality.
• Develop knowledge on ESG themes related to corporate ratings; support the rating team with thought leadership and research publications; evaluate new data sources.
• Demonstrate proactiveness with ownership for the work.
• Act as a process expert, provide tutoring and training based on experience in specific industries.
• Participate in quality assurance procedures.

ISS STOXX is seeking ESG Analysts to join our research team in Mumbai and support the collection and analysis of ESG data for our ESG Ratings team . The successful candidates will be part of ISS STOXX Sustainability global research team and will focus on the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative environmental and social data from corporate disclosures. This data feeds our broad suite of ESG solutions, including our market-leading Corporate Rating.

Overview

ESG analysts research to evaluate a company's performance areas across the full range of ESG themes, including working conditions, supply chain management, sustainability governance, environmental management, and emission and resource consumption. Daily tasks include reviewing company documents such as sustainability reports, annual reports and corporate websites, and identifying, analysing and processing relevant qualitative and quantitative data in line with ISS ESG's methodology. Our teams are based in the Philippines, the US, Australia, Germany, Sweden, India, and the UK. The successful candidate will work both independently as well as collaboratively with the local team and colleagues across our global offices. • Track and monitor developments and trends in various industries of specialisation.
• Take ownership of production targets and deliver the research within the timelines outlined in the processes and quality standards.
• Coordinate with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure that production is completed on time without compromising on quality.
• Constantly endeavour to develop knowledge and expertise on ESG themes associated with corporate ratings. Support the rating team using thought leadership and research publications, methodology reviews, and ESG market development monitoring. Make suggestions based on domain expertise to evaluate new data sources.
• Demonstrate proactiveness with a strong sense of ownership for the work.
• Act as a process expert regarding production, conduct tutoring, and process relevant training based on experience and expertise in specific industries
• Participate in quality assurance procedures.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree (a degree in a field such as international relations, development studies, environmental science, or international human rights is desirable; knowledge of financial markets and sustainable finance is an advantage). An MBA with a sustainability concentration is also desirable.
• 0-2 years of relevant professional experience in sustainability-related field, financial services, ESG research/Sustainable finance/Credit Ratings, thinktanks focused on sustainability or academic research institutes
• Excellent English language skills, both written and oral
• Knowledge of, and proficiency with, Microsoft Office packages (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
• Experience with sustainability topics or key sectors, with experience in data collection and business research, is an advantage.
