Job summary

BMW TechWorks India Private Limited is seeking a mechanical engineer to advance occupant packaging and ergonomic design for vehicle interiors. You will perform CAD construction of seating buck, define target zones, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet FI requirements.

With 2+ years in top-hat packaging or ergonomics, you will leverage CATIA and PLM tools to turn simulation results into concrete recommendations while delivering design reviews and DVPs on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 2+ years in vehicle top hat packaging/ergonomics/interiors design.
• Experience with PLM and virtual tools (Prisma Carisma, Teamcenter, Vismock).
• Proficiency CAD and digital tools (CATIA V5/V6, 3Dx).
• Ability to plan, organize and execute engineering/ergonomic projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; translate simulations into recommendations.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication; collaborate across regions.
• Capable of managing multiple customers and priorities with quality and on-time delivery.

• Develop occupant packaging targets and vehicle-level target zones.
• Create occupant posture models and define target zones.
• Assess surfaces against packaging and ergonomic targets; prepare DVP reports.
• Participate in design reviews and provide packaging recommendations during product development.

• CAD construction of Ergonomics Seating buck using CATIA
• Understanding of target setting for Visibility, Package, and Usability (FI) requirements.
• Aware of vehicle-level homologation requirements and ability to propose compliant design solutions.
• Understanding of occupant-related hardpoints and parameters as per SAE J1100 terminology.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop occupant packaging targets.
• Generate vehicle-level target zones for exterior and interior packaging.
• Develop occupant posture models and define target zones.
• Assess CAS (Computer-Aided Styling) surfaces against packaging and ergonomic targets.
• Prepare Design Verification Plan (DVP) reports.
• Participate in design reviews and provide packaging recommendations during product development.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s Engineering degree in Mech or related discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in vehicle top hat packaging/ergonomics/interiors design
• Experience with PLM and virtual tools such as Prisma Carisma, Teamcenter, Vismock.
• Proficiency with CAD and digital tools (e.g., CATIA V5/V6, 3Dx)
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute engineering or ergonomic projects independently and in teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn standards and simulation results into actionable recommendations.
• Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels and across regions.
