Job summary

BVG India is seeking an Environment In Charge to oversee waste management and sewage management operations. The role ensures regulatory compliance, manages waste handling and disposal, and drives sustainable environmental practices across facilities.

The incumbent will monitor STP operations, enforce ISO 14001 standards, and coordinate with regulatory authorities while promoting cost-effective environmental improvements and resource efficiency.

Qualifications

• Any Graduate; preference for certifications/training in Environmental Management, Waste Management, ISO 14001, Sewage Treatment Plant Operations, EHS, or Sustainability.
• Certification in Environmental Management or related field preferred; ISO 14001 experience advantageous.
• Experience in environmental compliance and waste/sewage management is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Waste Management: plan, implement, monitor solid/hazardous/non-hazardous waste, ensure segregation, storage, transport, recycling, disposal.
• Oversee Sewage Management: monitor STP operations, wastewater collection, treatment, reuse; ensure compliance with standards.
• Ensure regulatory environmental compliance; liaise with Pollution Control Boards and other authorities; prepare submissions.
• Monitor environmental performance data and audits; drive sustainability programs, waste reduction, and resource recovery.
• Support ISO 14001 EMS implementation and audits; maintain procedures, records, permits, and renewals.
• Conduct training on waste segregation, sewage management, and environmental best practices; raise awareness among staff and contractors.
• Investigate environmental incidents, implement corrective/preventive actions, support emergency response.

Job Summary

The Environment In charge will be responsible for overseeing waste management and sewage management operations, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, managing waste handling and disposal processes, monitoring sewage treatment facilities, and driving sustainable environmental practices. The position will play a critical role in maintaining statutory compliance, minimizing environmental impact, and improving resource efficiency across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Waste Management

• Plan, implement, and monitor solid waste, hazardous waste, and non-hazardous waste management activities.
• Ensure proper segregation, storage, transportation, recycling, and disposal of waste as per applicable regulations.
• Monitor waste generation trends and identify opportunities for waste reduction and resource recovery.
• Coordinate with authorized waste recyclers, transporters, and disposal agencies.
• Maintain records and documentation related to waste handling and disposal.

Sewage Management

• Oversee operation and maintenance of Sewage Treatment Plants (STP).
• Monitor sewage collection, treatment, disposal, and reuse systems.
• Ensure treated water quality meets regulatory standards and prescribed norms.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance activities for STP equipment and utilities.
• Monitor water consumption and identify opportunities for wastewater recycling and reuse.

Environmental Compliance

• Ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, permits, and statutory requirements.
• Liaise with Pollution Control Boards and other regulatory authorities.
• Prepare and submit environmental compliance reports, returns, and documentation within stipulated timelines.
• Maintain environmental permits, approvals, and consent renewals.

Environmental Monitoring

• Monitor environmental parameters including wastewater quality, air emissions, noise levels, and waste management practices.
• Conduct routine inspections and audits of waste and sewage treatment facilities.
• Analyze environmental performance data and recommend corrective actions.

Sustainability Initiatives

• Implement waste minimization, recycling, water conservation, and sustainability programs.
• Promote circular economy practices and resource optimization initiatives.
• Drive projects related to environmental performance improvement and cost reduction.

Environmental Management System

• Support implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
• Ensure environmental procedures, policies, and records are maintained.
• Participate in internal and external environmental audits.

Training & Awareness

• Conduct training programs on waste segregation, sewage management, and environmental best practices.
• Develop awareness campaigns to improve environmental compliance among employees and contractors.
• Promote a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainability.

Incident Management
