Job summary

Medtronic in Hyderabad, India seeks a Senior Software Engineer to develop real-time software for a Robotic Assisted Surgery platform. You will work on robotics, motion control, visualization, and high-performance computing using modern C++ in a regulated medical device environment.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience designing and developing scalable enterprise solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience in customer-facing products.
  • Strong design and development experience in C++14/17 and OpenGL.
  • Experience with C#, WPF/MVVM, CUDA & GPU programming is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Ubuntu/Linux and Windows OS in medical instrument development is a plus.
  • Knowledge of FDA and IEC 62304 is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute throughout the product lifecycle from requirements through verification and release.
  • Create software design, implementation, and verification artifacts.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Support risk management and cybersecurity activities.
  • Conduct code reviews and contribute to product architecture and bugs/breakthroughs.
  • Plan delivery timelines, code quality, and process improvements.

A Day in the Life

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to develop next-generation software for a Robotic Assisted Surgery (RAS) platform. The engineer will contribute to the design and implementation of real-time software systems involving robotics, motion control, surgical visualization, 3D graphics, GPU acceleration, navigation, and medical imaging. This role requires strong expertise in modern C++, control systems, computer graphics, OpenGL, and high-performance computing, along with the ability to work in a regulated medical device environment. The engineer will collaborate with robotics, system engineering, clinical, and quality teams to develop safe, reliable, and performant surgical solutions.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Contribute throughout the product lifecycle from requirements through verification and release.

Create software design, implementation, and verification artifacts.

Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.

Support risk management and cybersecurity activities.

Conduct code reviews, and make technical contributions to product architecture as well as getting involved in solving bugs and delivering features.

Participate in planning delivery time, code quality, and process efficiency improvement.

Required Knowledge and Experience

5- 7 years of experience design and development scalable enterprise solutions

2+ years of experience in customer-facing products

BE/BTech in Computer Science, IT, ECE Engineering

Strong design and development experience C++ 14/17, OpenGL

Experience in C#, WPF/MVVM, ,CUDA & GPU programming, added advantage

Strong Object-Oriented Design and development experience, is required.

Good understanding of multithreading in both, design and implementation

Experience with projects that require hardware /software interfacing

Familiarity with Ubuntu/Linux, Windows OS Medical instruments development experiences a plus

Experience with a documented software development processes or familiarity with FDA and ISO standards like IEC 62304 is a plus

Good communication skills and Good team player

Knowledge of DevOps CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, CodeDeploy, CircleCI, Jenkins/Travis etc.)

Knowledge on application security and secure design practices is a must

Ability to advocate and implement best practices and standard solutions

Experience in control systems, robotics will be preferred
