Overview
At YNV Group, we are seeking a dynamic and hands-on Enterprise Architect to lead technology direction for our banking business across retail and business banking. You will own the enterprise architecture for the full banking estate: core banking, front-office and back-office platforms, payments, lending, compliance and the wider banking application landscape. You will work directly with the CEO, CTO, COO and business heads to translate business strategy into an executable technology roadmap, and with engineering teams to make sure that roadmap is delivered.
This is not a governance-only role. The ideal candidate has spent years inside banking systems, understands how they actually work and fail, can design the target solution themselves, and can prototype and validate with emerging technologies, including AI, before asking others to build. If this describes you, we would like to hear from you.
Helping people thrive and grow in the modern digital world.

Responsibilities
- Strategic alignment: create and maintain the banking technology architecture roadmap and ensure it aligns with the organisation's strategic goals
- Stakeholder engagement: work closely with the CEO, CTO, COO and department heads to ensure business strategy is well understood and supported by a robust technology strategy
- Lead the analysis of business and operating models, market trends, regulation and the technology industry to determine their impact on the enterprise's strategy, direction and architecture
- Present gap analyses and IT investment roadmaps that reflect the status of the existing banking estate and its ability to deliver future-state business capabilities
- Lead analysis of the IT environment to detect critical deficiencies (resilience, security, scalability, cost, regulatory exposure) and recommend solutions for improvement
- Identify inefficiencies in current processes and systems and propose improvements that enhance productivity, reduce cost and improve customer outcomes
- Create architectural designs that guide and contextualise solution development across products, services, projects and systems, including applications, technologies, processes and information
- Ensure the role of architecture in project and product governance is one of guidance, advice and oversight, and that decisions are made at pace
- Provide consultative advice and actionable recommendations to business leaders on investment decisions, including build, buy and partner options for banking platforms
- Ensure the architecture is robust, scalable, secure and meets the needs of a growing and changing business, and that it satisfies regulatory and audit requirements
- Ensure the core architecture team works closely with extended architecture team members across the organisation, and contribute to maturing the practice into a centre of excellence
- Stay abreast of advancements in AI and related technologies and leverage this knowledge to inform innovation strategies within the bank
- Participate in industry forums and standards bodies to represent the business and harness standardisation that supports it
Banking Domain Scope
- Core banking: accounts, deposits, general ledger, product configuration, interest and fees, end-of-day processing, and core modernisation or replacement strategies
- Front office: digital channels (mobile, web, branch, contact centre), customer onboarding and KYC, CRM and origination journeys for retail and business customers
- Back office: operations, reconciliation, settlements, treasury, finance and regulatory reporting, and document and case management
- Payments: domestic and cross-border rails, SEPA and instant payments, SWIFT, card issuing and acquiring, payment hubs, ISO 20022 and open banking / PSD2 APIs
- Lending: retail and business lending across origination, credit decisioning, underwriting, servicing, collections, factoring and recovery, including secured and unsecured products
- Compliance and risk: AML, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, fraud, KYC/CDD, data protection, and regulatory reporting obligations
- Electronic money and e-money institutions (EMI): wallets, prepaid and card programmes, safeguarding, ledgering and licensing considerations
- Retail and business banking: the differing product, channel, risk and operating-model needs of both segments
- Banking application landscape: evaluation and integration of vendor platforms (core banking, payments, lending, compliance) as well as in-house builds
Solution Architecture & Hands-On Delivery
- Design target-state solution architectures for banking capabilities and produce the artefacts engineering teams need: context, component, integration, data and security views, and architecture decision records
- Define integration architecture across the banking estate: APIs, event streaming, batch, messaging and vendor integration patterns, with clear data ownership and lineage
- Lead vendor and platform evaluations, proofs of concept and pilots; prototype and experiment hands-on with emerging technologies before committing investment
- Design cloud-native and hybrid deployment models for banking workloads, addressing resilience, operational resilience regulation, data residency and exit planning
- Embed security, privacy and regulatory controls by design, and work with risk, compliance and audit functions to evidence them
- Identify and design AI use cases in banking (customer service, onboarding, fraud, credit, operations) and the controls required to deploy them responsibly
- Leverage AI tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate analysis, documentation, prototyping and design validation, and critically evaluate their outputs
