Job summary

Momentive Software in Pune seeks a Technical Lead to drive a scrum team and serve as the technical face for major decisions. This role focuses on delivering complex application development from concept to production while aligning with architecture standards.

You will mentor engineers, lead Agile ceremonies, design and implement RESTful services, and ensure quality through TDD, CI/CD, and strong collaboration with product and leadership.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 4+ years building and supporting Ruby on Rails based applications.
  • 2-4 years experience managing a scrum team.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails and Vue.js.
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs and SQL databases.
  • Familiar with authentication (SAML/OAuth2) and Agile tooling (Jira).

Responsibilities

  • Lead a scrum team to deliver project deliverables on time and be the main technical face of the team.
  • Run Agile ceremonies and balance roadmap with team capacity and priorities.
  • Mentor engineers and participate in on-call duties for production issues.
  • Develop application code according to requirements and tasks.
  • Contribute to architecture, code reviews, and automated testing.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Technical Lead to drive a scrum team for all the necessary deliverables and be the technical face of the team for major decisions. This position will be based in our Pune office.

A Day in the Life

As a Technical Lead, the associate will be responsible for driving a scrum team to deliver project deliverables and orchestrating complex application development across the full lifecycle of development - from concept to post-production support and maintenance of server / OS / web applications and services. The associate will oversee the development of application code, contribute to and manage version-controlled source code repositories, and manage assigned tasks to create measurable value and deliver software to market using industry-recognized agile methodologies and best practices. The associate will advocate the standards and guidelines set by the architects and leadership teams and must demonstrate quality, brevity, and timeliness in all deliverables.

In this role, the you will:
  • Manage a scrum team to deliver project deliverables on time and be the main technical face of the team for any decision.
  • Successfully run Agile ceremonies and work closely with Product Owners on keeping the roadmap and the team's current capacity in balance.
  • Help to educate and mentor other engineers, and participate in on-call duties for production issues as required.
  • Develop application code according to requirements and assigned tasks.
  • Contribute to lifecycle Flow and value streams by following and prescribing methodologies and best practices.
  • Solve the most difficult software development challenges.
  • Maintain a balance of business and technical acumen in decision making.
  • Contribute to source-code management and work item tracking best practices.
  • Contribute to the estimation process during planning exercises.
  • Provide consultation to the development management team.
  • Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design reviews, writing user stories, reviewing code submitted by other engineers, and automated testing.
We Are Looking for Someone Who Brings
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 4 years building and supporting Ruby on Rails based applications.
  • Has 2-4 years of experience in managing a scrum team
  • Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) design and principles.
  • Extensive experience developing applications using Ruby on Rails.
  • 2+ years of experience in Vue.js.
  • Strong knowledge of the ORM layer.
  • TDD experience - writing good unit tests and integration tests, preferably using RSpec.
  • Expertise with MVC and MVVM frameworks / architecture such as Rails.
  • A self-starter who can work independently within a globally distributed team.
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with caching and queuing mechanisms such as RabbitMQ, Sidekiq, and Kafka.
  • Expertise working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript / jQuery.
  • Developing highly optimized database applications / queries based on SQL.
  • Experience working in one or more RDBMS such as MySQL or Oracle.
  • Agile development experience using a scrum tool such as Jira.
  • Experience with Git and version control software such as GitHub or Bitbucket.
  • Authentication and authorization using SAML and/or OAuth 2.0.
  • Understanding of emerging AI technologies and toolsets in support of engineering best practices, such as GitHub Copilot Chat, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Good-to-have skills
  • Experience deploying to and managing the cloud; experience with AWS is a huge plus.
  • Experience developing microservices.
  • Knowledge of GraphQL; understanding of webpack and Node.js.
  • Experience with performance testing and APMs at the enterprise level.
  • Experience developing payment systems; knowledge of PCI requirements.
  • Knowledge of React / React Native.
