Job summary

Momentive Software in Pune, India is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build scalable backend and frontend components in a fast-paced SaaS environment. The role spans PHP, Python, and frontend work, with a focus on SOA, microservices, and REST APIs.

You will collaborate with product, QA, and infrastructure, lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and drive modernization of legacy systems while delivering new features.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong PHP proficiency — Zend / Laminas preferred.
• Solid grasp of OOP, SOLID principles, encapsulation, and SOA.
• 3+ years with SQL (MS SQL or MySQL).
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, distributed systems.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, engineering, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable solutions across our SOA and microservices architecture.
• Lead code reviews, identify systemic improvements, and mentor junior engineers.
• Own major areas of platform functionality — backend systems, APIs, and frontend micro-apps.
• Drive modernization of legacy systems while delivering new product features in parallel.
• Collaborate with product, QA, and infrastructure to define requirements, resolve defects, and maintain quality.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and help set engineering standards for the team.

We power the largest association network job board in the world. Associations use Momentive Careers to deliver a high-value member service, acquire and engage new members, and generate non-dues revenue by connecting their industries' employers with qualified talent. Our platform serves high-traffic SaaS workloads: job seekers, employers, and association admins all depend on it daily. The engineering team owns the full stack — from the backend job-matching engine to micro-app frontends to the APIs that tie them together. A day in the life:

• Design and implement scalable solutions to complex problems across our SOA and microservices architecture
• Lead code reviews, identify systemic improvements, and actively mentor junior engineers
• Own major areas of platform functionality — backend systems, APIs, and frontend micro-apps
• Drive modernization of legacy systems while delivering new product features in parallel
• Collaborate with product, QA, and infrastructure to define requirements, resolve defects, and maintain quality
• Contribute to technical architecture discussions and help set engineering standards for the team

In this role you'll:

• Build and maintain high-traffic SaaS systems serving millions of job seekers and employers
• Work full-stack across our PHP backend platform, Lucee-rendered pages, and React + TypeScript micro-app frontends
• Practice agile development in 2-week sprints — code reviews, automated testing, and post-deploy monitoring
• Troubleshoot complex production issues using root cause analysis and APM tooling
• Participate in architecture and system-design decisions that shape the product long-term
• Uphold security-first development practices across all layers of the stack

We would love to chat if you have:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong PHP proficiency — Zend / Laminas Framework preferred
• Solid grasp of OOP, SOLID principles, encapsulation, and SOA
• 3+ years with SQL (MS SQL or MySQL)
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, distributed systems
• Comfortable contributing to technical architecture discussions
• 3+ years working in a Linux environment
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Ability to work the 1 PM – 10 PM IST shift

We will be excited to talk if you also bring:

• Experience with React, TypeScript, Redux Toolkit, or Redux Saga
• Lucee / ColdFusion (CFML) background
• Python (Celery) or message queue experience (RabbitMQ)
• Elasticsearch or Solr query / indexing experience
• GraphQL API experience
• TDD practice — PHPUnit, Jest, or Selenium
• Microservices architecture knowledge
• AWS infrastructure or Terraform familiarity
• Working knowledge of Docker / Kubernetes
• Hands on experience to work with AI tools like Claude code / Cursor etc.
