What You’ll Do
Responsible for mentoring and leading the execution of the office’s local engineering group. This position will support the Operations/Engineering Manager while serving as a change agent to help improve overall communication, project execution, and efficiency within Engineering.
Day‑To‑Day Responsibilities
- Support the local office Engineering Management as an SME and escalation resource in coordination with local Operations Management.
- Provide leadership and guidance to local engineering team.
- Share, teach and reinforce the use of AVI‑SPL standard practice across the team.
- Coach and motivate team members to successfully perform job requirements and to meet and exceed goals and objectives.
- Regularly communicate through daily huddles and other methods to ensure consistency and timely, accurate completion of engineering tasks.
- Lead the engineering team with a positive attitude that aligns with teamwork, mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Support leadership in establishing departmental goals, objectives and operating procedures.
- Perform frequent spot checks of team work to ensure accuracy and adherence to all company standards.
- Lead lessons‑learned meetings as necessary.
- Review pre‑construction design and documentation, technical design, and pricing as needed.
- Meet with vendors and prospective vendors to evaluate products and serve as a customer liaison for engineering inquiries and post‑sales project consultation.
- Review project designs created by internal and external resources.
- Estimate hours for work based on needs analysis, scope of work, and bid requirements.
- Remain abreast of AV advances in the field and identify areas of use within the organization.
- Create and maintain technical documentation in accordance with company guidelines, translating customer requirements into functional system designs.
- Contribute to improving process workflows and maintaining system administration, scheduling, and resources for the department.

- Understanding of engineering aspects of audiovisual systems design and installation (preferred).
- Excellent multitasking capabilities while adapting to changing priorities.
- Energized self‑starter capable of working independently and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Clear and professional written and oral communication skills (internal and external).
- Demonstrated customer service focus and client communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
- Basic understanding of IP networking.
- Advanced computer skills required for the design, configuration and operation of AV equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI‑SPL driving standards.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Nice‑To‑Haves
- Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field (preferred).
- At least 10 years of AV experience (preferred).
- Experience with Enterprise VC solutions (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, BlueJeans, Cisco Telepresence, etc.).
- AVIXIA CTS‑D (Certified Technical Specialist–Design) (preferred).
- A minimum of 6 years of AV experience plus a four‑year degree or military experience may be considered in place of job experience.
