Job summary

Role Overview

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who owns the Experience Pillar — the layer of technology that customers, agents, and partners see and touch. You will unify Chubb's portal applications across distribution, policy servicing, and digital channels, bringing consistency, speed, and AI-enhanced experiences to every interaction point. This is not a role for someone who manages backlogs from a distance. You lead from the front: you understand the frontend stack, you have opinions on API design, and you have shipped portal products that real users depend on at scale. Candidates from eCommerce, Retail, Banking, and Insurtech environments are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of engineers building digital portal applications and API-backed experience platforms serving customers, agents, and distribution partners.
• Define and own the engineering roadmap for the Experience Pillar, consolidating portal applications into a unified, scalable, and consistent architecture.
• Drive AI-native development practices across the team — AI-assisted coding, intelligent test generation, automated code review, and agentic developer workflows as standard practice.
• Architect and deliver API-first, mobile-ready portal experiences across web and partner-integrated channels.
• Establish and maintain engineering standards for frontend, BFF (Backend for Frontend), and API gateway layers.
• Partner with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Solution Architects to translate experience requirements into delivered, high-quality features.
• Own sprint quality, release velocity, and technical debt trade-offs across the pillar.
• Embed DevSecOps practices — CI/CD pipelines, security scanning, performance observability — as default engineering behaviour.
• Hire, develop, and retain engineering talent; build a high-trust, high-accountability team culture with psychological safety.
• Contribute to the Chubb India Digital engineering brand as a visible, credible technical leader.

What We Are Looking For

• Strong engineering background in portal and web application development — React, Angular, or equivalent modern frontend stacks, paired with strong API and microservices experience.
• Experience with API design, BFF patterns, and API gateway platforms supporting multi-channel digital experiences.
• Demonstrated AI tool adoption: you have embedded GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or equivalent coding assistants into team workflows — not piloted them once.
• Track record of delivering digital portal products in eCommerce, Retail, Banking, or Insurtech environments at meaningful scale.
• Cloud-native development experience (Azure or AWS); containerization, microservices, and API-first patterns.
• 3+ years of engineering leadership experience in agile, high-delivery environments; able to read code, review PRs, and engage technically.
• Insurance or financial services domain exposure is advantageous but not a gate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 15+ years in software engineering, with at least 3 years leading engineering teams in a delivery-focused environment.
• Strong AI tooling adoption and digital product delivery track record — depth of outcome carries more weight than years alone.
