Engineering Manager – Data Science (Search and Match)

BOLD is seeking the newest addition to our existing Data Science team. You will combine analytical skills and business knowledge to deliver key insights to Product and Management teams, driving product development through our extensive user datasets.

About the Team

The Data Science department discovers patterns, builds predictive models, and improves product quality using machine learning techniques. We collaborate with Engineering, Portals, BI, Product, and Legal to address problems that blend natural language processing and machine learning. Projects include resume parsing, ranking, content generation, recommendation, and conversion analysis.

What You’ll Do

• Build AI/ML models for content generation, recommendation, and moderation using LLMs.
• Translate business requirements into robust data science algorithms.
• Provide technical leadership to a team of data science engineers.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML, NLP, statistical, and content recommendation algorithms.
• Leverage rich user datasets to research, develop models, and create data products with Development & Product teams.
• Develop scalable data systems in cooperation with system architects.
• Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams to deliver end‑to‑end products.
• Multi‑task and reprioritize responsibilities based on evolving requirements.
• Create model validation frameworks.
• Lead a data science team delivering actionable results through a blend of data science solutions, business skills, and statistical knowledge.
• Distill complex analytical results into clear, actionable feedback for product and engineering teams.
• Recruit, build, and retain a top‑tier data science team.
• Assess, inspire, and motivate a high‑performing team.

What You’ll Need

• Proven experience solving open‑ended business problems with data science/ML/AI from ideation to production.
• Strong programming experience in Python and familiarity with machine learning algorithms and statistical methods.
• 10+ years of experience in ML/Data science with an NLP background.
• Delivered multiple data science products in production; deployment with LLMs is a plus.
• Practical LLM/RAG experience for search quality (query understanding, semantic retrieval, reranker design).
• Experience with Solr/OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
• Experience with embedding & vector search.
• Experience designing ML systems with data pipelines, model iteration, evaluation, high‑throughput training, GPU/CPU optimization, and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Leadership experience guiding 3‑5 data scientists.
• Experience deploying models into production using tools such as Jenkins.

What’s Good to Have

• Experience with cloud infrastructure and platforms (Azure, AWS).
• Experience with software stack components, back‑end technologies, database modelling, continuous integration, SOA, software testability.
• Experience with IR & Recommendation Systems (candidate retrieval, re‑ranking, cold start).
