Job summary

PhonePe in Pune seeks an experienced engineering leader to drive the design and delivery of large-scale distributed systems. You will guide architecture decisions, mentor high-performing teams, and align engineering outcomes with business goals.

You will collaborate with product, operations, and clients/vendors to ensure system health, implement best practices, and hire top talent to sustain fast-paced growth in a digital payments ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Proven skills in designing and developing simple to complex solutions including large-scale distributed systems.
• Proven track record building and managing high-performing software teams.
• Experience shaping design and architecture of multiple subsystems with senior peers.
• 11+ years of software development and 3+ years leading teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate discussions and lead engineering decisions for the team.

• Maintain production system hygiene (engineering and processes).

Job Description

As a leader, you will be:

• Facilitating discussions and leading decision-making on all engineering aspects of his/her team
• Able to define and execute the engineering plans for the areas under his/her ownership
• Drive engineering best practices for the team
• Define, implement, and maintain the hygiene of the production systems (both engineering and processes) for the areas under his/her ownership
• Responsible for the health of the business directly owned by the team
• Challenging business & product on outcomes, channelize feedback into execution, and be accountable for engineering outputs
• Hiring, mentoring, and retaining a best-of-class engineering team
• Responsible for all stakeholder management including but not limited to business, product, operations, and clients/vendors

Qualifications

As a leader, you must have:

• Proven skills in designing and developing simple to complex solutions including experience in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems.
• Proven track record building and managing high-performing software development teams
• Practical experience and ability to drive the design and architecture of multiple subsystems with other senior members of the team
• BTech, MTech, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline (or equivalent)
• 11+ years of software development experience and 3+ years in leading teams
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences
• experience with startups and fast-paced environments is an added advantage
