Job summary

Gradiant is a water technology pioneer seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Mobile/Containerized Design team in Chennai. You will review work from the India GEC and outsourced engineers, ensuring designs meet budget and schedule.

The role requires 10–15 years in containerized and asset design, with strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills to drive multi-discipline teams across manufacturing and sourcing, while maintaining safety standards and design integrity.

Qualifications

• BE Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical).
• Minimum 15+ years’ experience in Design Engineering and Management.
• Minimum 10+ years’ experience as lead Engineer/Manager.
• Proficiency in plant design tools: AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Plant 3D.
• MS Office and 3D model review proficiency.
• Detail engineering of complex skid/module-based plants.
• Familiar with industry standards and specs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for all management levels.
• Ability to travel as project needs and work in multicultural settings.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to join our Mobile / Containerized Design team. The ideal candidate will have 10–15 years of relevant experience, preferably in water treatment containerized design and new asset design engineering. This role requires strong engineering expertise, including the ability to review documents and drawings produced by the Gradiant Global Engineering Center in India and/or outsourced engineering consultants. Engineering Manager will lead a team at Global Engineering center and deliver the design deliverables and work with manufacturing, sourcing team to complete the asset builds in budget and in schedule.

Responsibilities

• Engineering execution for water treatments asset designs.


• Manage the multidiscipline engineering team to deliver the design deliverables on time at high quality


• Hiring new engineers, coaching and training


• Ensure that engineering is completed accurately within schedule and budget.


• Supervise / review basic Engineering, detailed Engineering based on customer and other disciplines design requirements. Be responsible for the design and technical support as part of an integrated system.


• Confirm compliance with Gradiant asset design specifications requirements


• Design according to local rules, regulations, and guidelines.


• Coordinate / interface with various disciplines to make sure Asset design engineering meets Mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation requirements.


• Deliver Design Bill of Materials in SAP, maintain the material master data.


• Familiar with Gradiant’s engineering design of Skids / modules, pipe supports, pipe racks.


• Collaborate with QA/QC, and Manufacturing Manager.


• Lead in internal and external design reviews, Design HAZOP reviews and maintain the document controls


• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations throughout the Design lifecycle.

Requirements

• BE Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical or Electrical)


• Minimum 15+ years’ experience in Design Engineering and Managements


• Minimum 10+ years’ experience as lead Engineer / Manger


• Knowledge in engineering of entire plant designs in AutoCAD, Solids works or plant 3D


• Proficiency in computer skills like MS Office, 3D model review.


• Detail engineering of complex/ skid-based /module-based treatment / stick-built systems/plants.


• Familiar with industry related standards and specifications


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with all levels of management.


• Ability to travel as required for project needs.Experience working in a multicultural environment and in an international business.
