Job summary

Bread Financial is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead a cross-functional, Agile team delivering secure, scalable fintech solutions. You will oversee design, development, testing, and deployment across full stack and UI/UX, with emphasis on automated testing and cloud environments.

You will mentor engineers, drive code quality through reviews, and collaborate with product and business teams to align on strategic goals while maintaining a high-performing, inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 8–10 years of SDLC experience across Full Stack, Frontend, Backend, and UI/UX engineering.
• 3–5 years leading projects, mentoring, and coaching with subject matter expert in software engineering.

• Lead the creation and execution of unit tests and testing; conduct code reviews.

Job Summary

Manager, Software Engineering is responsible for leading a cross-functional team in an Agile environment to address business challenges through effective software solutions. Key responsibilities include overseeing the design, development, testing, configuration, and deployment of high-quality software solutions, developing test strategies, and creating cloud environments. Manages full stack development projects across the SDLC, improving frontend, backend, and UI/UX components. The role ensures that all software delivery is secure, reliable, and highly automated, thus supporting seamless and efficient financial technology systems.

Essential Job Functions

• Oversee the software development lifecycle to ensure the delivery of scalable solutions. Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into detailed technical designs. Guide the team in developing design specifications, including user interface layouts, and ensure the delivery of functional, high-quality components - (15%)
• Lead the creation and execution of unit tests and testing to proactively identify and resolve issues. Facilitate code reviews to identify and remediate defects, ensuring adherence to coding standards. Guide the team in estimating and sizing work efforts based on high-level requirements, and drive continuous application improvements for quality, efficiency, and user experience - (15%)
• Guide the design and development of software solutions in line with business objectives. Manage the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Provide technical leadership and oversee code reviews to uphold software integrity, while coordinating with stakeholders to align project goals - (15%)
• Direct efforts to improve system performance using modern frameworks. Oversee code reviews and enforce best testing practices. Lead the team of software engineers in resolving system defects and bottlenecks, ensuring reliability and scalability, while setting performance standards and objectives - (15%)
• Lead the strategy for UI/UX enhancements to create intuitive interfaces. Collaborate across teams to improve user experience, integrating feedback to refine usability and align with business needs - (15%)
• Build and maintain strong relationships across engineering, product, and business teams to enhance collaboration and efficiency. Provide coaching and constructive feedback to team members, both formally and informally. Foster a high-performing, inclusive environment by motivating the team to achieve business goals. Use feedback to drive personal and team development - (15%)
• Demonstrate proficiency in at least two programming languages, ideally three and contribute to the development or maintenance of multiple applications. Provide technical supervision and coaching to team while showcasing strong business knowledge in financial technology and payments domains. Provide technical on-call support and respond to incident inquiries as needed. - (10%)

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree computer science or related field of study; or equivalent experience
• 8-10 years of work experience in related field (Software Development Life Cycle across Full Stack, Frontend and Backend Development and UI / UX engineering)
• 3-5 years leading projects, mentoring and/or coaching experience, demonstrated subject matter expert in software engineering
