About the Role

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of backend, frontend, and full-stack engineers and to stay close enough to the code to earn their trust. You'll own delivery for your team, set technical direction alongside Product and Design, and take real responsibility for how your engineers grow.

Our roadmap ahead is ambitious scaling core platform capabilities, deepening our data infrastructure, and embedding AI into how we build and how our product works. You'll own a meaningful slice of that, and the team that delivers it.

What You'll Own

• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of backend, frontend, and full-stack engineers
• Own career growth for your team structured feedback, development plans, and technical guidance that actually changes how people work

• Hire senior engineers independently and hold the bar, even when the pressure is to fill the seat
• Instill a culture of high ownership, technical rigor, and intellectual honesty about tradeoffs — where the team takes calculated risks without fearing failure.

Technical Direction

• Set and drive the technical roadmap for your area in partnership with Product and Design
• Make architectural decisions that balance speed with long-term scalability — and be explicit about what you're trading away when you choose
• Dive deep into code when it matters debugging, reviewing critical paths, unblocking engineers on hard problems
• Maintain high standards for system design, performance, observability, and reliability across a fintech-grade platform handling sensitive financial data
• Bring AI into how the team builds code generation, review, testing — with a clear view of where it adds velocity and where it quietly adds risk.
• Deliver high-quality features on time across multiple parallel workstreams
• Establish engineering processes that hold under pressure code reviews, incident postmortems, testing culture, release pipelines
• Partner closely with product managers to shape problem statements, not just execute solutions
• Build the tracking and accountability mechanisms that make your team's execution predictable
• Ensure engineering output translates directly into business outcomes and a better client experience.

What We're Looking For

• 8–10 years of total experience in software engineering.
• 2–3+ years managing teams of 8+ engineers, with proven success leading senior talent.
• Strong technical depth in one or more of: distributed systems, backend architectures, API design.
• Experience shipping products at scale in fast-paced product/tech organisations (fintech a plus)
• Ability to influence architecture and drive high-quality systems end to end.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering workflows — you've used them and you know their limits.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to align cross-functional stakeholders.
• A builder's mindset pragmatic, data-driven, and comfortable navigating ambiguity.
