Job summary

Ittiam in Bengaluru is seeking a software professional to contribute to Advanced Video and Research (AVR) activities, focusing on imaging, video coding, analytics, and OTT delivery solutions. The role involves developing video IP, codecs, and performance optimizations for devices and edge servers.

The candidate should have 2–4 years of hands-on experience in imaging/video software, with proficiency in C/C++/MATLAB or ML frameworks, and a strong foundation in related technologies.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of software development experience in imaging/video.
• Experience developing imaging/video algorithms or codecs using C/C++ or MATLAB for web/edge/handheld devices.
• Experience in neural network based imaging/video applications using PyTorch or TensorFlow on GPU/TPU/NPU platforms.
• Strong fundamentals in the above fields and good debugging skills.
• Familiar with Git, test planning and execution.

Responsibilities

• Learn state-of-the-art imaging and video technologies per product requirements.
• Develop and implement video algorithms and solutions as an individual contributor.
• Follow software management processes including testing, documentation and delivery per project milestones.
• Potentially lead product development in a year or two with additional responsibilities.
• Mentor a small team of engineers and engage in customer interactions as needed.
• Contribute to IP development through articles, publications, talks or patents.

Job Description: The prospective candidate will be part of Advanced Video and Research (AVR) Team of Ittiam focused on developing niche IP and products in the field of imaging, video coding, video analytics and systems for global clientele. Based on the candidate’s proficiency and team’s needs, she/he is expected to actively contribute to Ittiam’s products and IP development in the field of video broadcasting, quality optimized video delivery solutions for Over the Top (OTT) services, optimized playback on handheld devices, live streaming solutions, new generation video codecs, low delay solutions for video conferencing, content analytics and summarization, future video codec research, video standards and generative AI solutions.

Required skillsets (Must):

• Candidate should have 2 to 4 years of experience in software development, preferably in the field of imaging and video using conventional signal processing or AI/ML based deep-learning solutions.
• Should be proficient in software development in at least one of the following fields:
• Developing imaging or video algorithms / video codecs / video applications using C / C++ / MATLAB for web servers / edge servers / hand-held client devices
• OR
• Development and training of neural network-based imaging / video applications using PyTorch / TensorFlow or other ML frameworks on GPU / TPU / NPU platforms.
• Good fundamental and theoretical knowledge in the above fields
• Software development practices and management skills with solid understanding of Git, Test Planning and Execution
• Good problem solving and debugging skills
• Should be passionate in learning, adopting and developing new technologies in the field of AI/ML/Imaging/Video.

Other desirable skillsets (Optional):

• SSSE4.2 / AVX / AVX2 / AVX-512 SIMD optimizations for x86 / x64 CPU based architectures.
• NEON / SVE based SIMD optimizations for ARM based platforms is and
• Good knowledge of video codecs such as AVC (H.264) / HEVC (H.265) / VVC (H.266) / VP9 / AV1 is an added advantage.
• Exposure to optimizing video applications using multi-threading and parallel processing algorithms is an added advantage.
• Any experience in implementation of cache-optimized or memory access optimized solutions using novel data structures and algorithms is an added advantage.
• Any exposure to optimized neural network inference implementations on low power GPU / NPU is an added advantage.
• Any IP published as patents / industry papers / publications is an added advantage.

Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of the job would be to deliver and excel in video IP development listed below:

• Learn state-of-the-art imaging and video technologies as per product / customer requirements
• Development and implementation of video algorithms and solutions as an individual contributor
• Follow efficient process of software management, testing, documentation and delivery as per project milestones.
• Candidates may be expected to lead product development in a year or two with additional responsibilities:
• Mentoring a team of two or more young engineers
• Front-ending customer interactions based on need
• Building customer relationships and trust for new and existing products
• Based on relevance, may also be required to create new IP beyond product development through articles / publications / tech talks / technical blogs / patents.
