Job summary

WSP India is seeking an experienced Rail Alignment Design Engineer to work on horizontal and vertical alignments, templates and corridor modelling for LRT, MRT and freight rail projects. The role supports Sweden Civil’s team across design stages.

You will lead design activities, ensure quality and timely delivery, coordinate with the client, manage documentation, and participate in feasibility through detailed design and handover, with strong English skills and Bentley software expertise.

Qualifications

• Rail alignment and track design experience in LRT/Metro/High Speed/freight railways and guided transport systems.
• Excellent English written and spoken.
• Proficient Bentley tools: MicroStation and OpenRail Designer; ProjectWise; OpenRoads Designer.
• Strong problem solving and MS Office skills.
• Experience with Swedish project standards is advantageous.
• Experience from feasibility to detailed design to client handover.
• Self-motivated with leadership potential.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a plus.

Job description

Design of rail alignment (horizontal, vertical, turnout placements & connections and cant), creation of templates and corridor modelling for rail facilities, freight, passenger railways, LRT, MRT and other guided transport systems for all design stages to satisfy business development and project delivery obligations for the Sweden Civil’s team.

Responsibilities

• Design responsibilities include, but not limited to, alignment design, regression analysis, template creation and corridor modelling of railway corridor, service roads, fencing and technical areas, quantity estimation, 3D model extraction, cross section drawings, plan drawings, plan & profile drawings, design reports.
• To identify related business opportunities, initiate discussion and to convert such opportunities to success stories.
• Role requires the designer to ensure quality and timely delivery to the client.
• Project management (basics such as documentation, and submission tracking expected) from start to delivery of project to client.
• Leading a design team, if necessary, in a project.
• Reporting project status to higher management at definite time intervals.

Qualifications

Mandatory

• At least 4 years’ experience of working with Rail Alignment & Track Design for LRT, Metro, Monorail, High Speed and/or Freight railways and other Guided Transport Systems.
• Excellent command of written and verbal English.
• Very good working knowledge of Bentley products such as Microstation/ Open Rail Designer (from alignment design through to preparation of drawings), Projectwise, Open Roads Designer etc.
• Problem solving skills and originality in approach to solving a problem.
• Computer literacy including a command over MS office tools.
• Swedish project experience and knowledge of Swedish design standards is advantageous. Training and guidance will be provided where necessary.
• Experience to work in/with other cultures.Experience in projects from feasibility to detailed design to implementation and client handover.
• High degree of self-motivation and ability to motivate others.
• Preferable to have a good working knowledge of software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Ability to work truthfully and honestly, even under minimum supervision.
• Familiarity of interfacing with other disciplines

Qualifications

• Master of Science or Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Transportation Engineering
