Job summary

WSP India is seeking a junior/mid-level Civil/Structural Engineer to support project delivery under supervision. Responsibilities include document control, design calculations, and coordination with the WSP USA team to ensure timely construction information.

The role requires strong English communication, teamwork, and the ability to work under guidance to meet deadlines, with exposure to RAM SS, RAM Concept, ETABS, and Revit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level civil engineering degree with a focus on structural design.
• Postgraduate specialization in structural engineering is preferred.
• Desirable PE license or path toward PE recognition in a US state or UK chartered status.

Responsibilities

• Follow document control and QA processes for project deliverables.
• Assist in compiling design specifications with reference to standards and manufacturers literature.
• Prepare detailed design and calculations per WSP and Building Regulations; ensure QA and sign-off.
• Undertake technical calculations and coordinate tasks within the team to meet deadlines.
• Contribute to project budgeting and workload planning under supervision.
• Coordinate with WSP USA team to provide timely information for construction.
• Support trainees and discuss design process improvements.
• Select appropriate CAD software and develop models for analysis.

Job Description

This role is to work as part of a team to support the delivery of projects. This role will be working under the supervision of a senior or project engineer to carry out the following functions:

• Follow in full the document control and QA processes relevant to project work, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports and correspondence are issued, and filed / archived in an appropriate manner


• Assist others in compiling design specification within given deadlines including checking compliance with the project brief through calculation and cross reference of manufacturers literature; ensuring all relevant standards and guides are used as reference with the design specification


• Organize and carry out detailed design to WSP and Building Regulations standard ensuring CDM, QA and technical review and sign off by project leader, including complex calculations and co-ordination issues


• Organize and undertake technical calculations to industry standards in conjunction with team members; supervise the work of team members to ensure the delegated work is completed to deadlines / standard and report to the project leader any issues, risks or client changes


• Prepare elemental work for project budget costing as delegated by the senior team member, within agreed deadlines and standards


• Deal with the day to day queries from the WSP USA Team, ensuring that relevant information is available on time for construction activity


• Contribute to and question technical and construction issues and encourage and help the trainees to better understand the design process


• Determine appropriate software for Computer Aided Design, construct models and undertake analysis and Manual checks

Key Competencies

• Proven experience in the design of building structures with a solid track record in a similar role.


• Strong management, communication, and technical skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


• Fluency in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.


• Cultural awareness, conscientious and an open mind and excellent communication skills are essential requirements for the role.


• High degree of self-motivation, passion for the subject and ability to motivate others.


• Ability to work under pressure and with minimum of supervision.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in technical structural software such as RAM SS, RAM Concept and ETABS is must.


• A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project is essential.


• Basic Experience in Revit drafting and modeling for building structures.


• Proficient in Reinforced Concrete, Steel and PT Designs.


• Should have working experience in handling projects in high wind zone. Preferrably in US Mid-West Projects.


• Experience in handling and coordinating Data Center projects is preferred.


• Ability to develop spreadsheets and Automate day to day tasks.

• Develop positive professional relationship with WSP USA Team, communicating openly about project progress.

• Identify and act on, or refer, potential risk issues and follow in full the company commercial and contracting processes.


• Demonstrate an awareness of project risk issues, flagging potential problems to team leader.


• Flag resourcing concerns to team leader and assist colleagues to ensure team timelines are met.


• Complete timesheet accurately ahead of weekly deadlines.

Qualifications

• B.Tech in Civil Engineering and M.Tech. in Structural Engineering.


• It is desirable that the candidate has obtained or initiated the process towards obtaining Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in any of the US states or British Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
