Job summary

WSP India is seeking a hydraulic modeller to apply hydraulic principles to river, stormwater and wastewater infrastructure planning, including modelling of open channels and 2D surface flows. You will interpret model outputs, develop hydrologic models for urban hydrology, and use tools like ICM and Tuflow to test scenarios.

You will work with ArcGIS or QGIS to manipulate geospatial data, produce high-level client reports, and ensure QA across project scopes.

Qualifications

  • Experience in hydraulic infrastructure planning for river, storm and wastewater systems.
  • Ability to interpret models and outputs for urban hydrology.
  • Proficiency in geospatial analysis with ArcGIS or QGIS.
  • Ability to produce client-ready reports and presentations.
  • Strong engineering judgement and adherence to QA and budgeting.

Responsibilities

  • Apply hydraulic principles for river, storm and wastewater infrastructure planning, including stormwater networks, culverts, bridges and open channel flows.
  • Interpret hydraulic models and outputs for infrastructure planning; develop hydrologic models and urban hydrology for use in hydraulic modelling.
  • Use Innovyze ICM and/or Tuflow to build, test and calibrate options/scenarios for river/stormwater systems; assess inputs and perform gap analysis.
  • Ensure model accuracy across Build, Demand Analysis, Calibration and Masterplanning.
  • Interpret and manipulate geospatial datasets for hydraulic modelling using ArcGIS or QGIS.

  • Interpret hydraulic models and outputs for infrastructure planning. Develop hydrologic models and urban hydrology for use in hydraulic modelling.

  • Use Innovyze ICM and/or Tuflow software to build, update or test options/scenarios for river and/or stormwater systems. This includes model schematisation, assessment of model inputs and gap analysis, model build, validation and calibration, system performance assessment, and floodplain and hazard mapping.

  • Ensure model accuracy based on available information across Model Build, Demand Analysis & Allocation, Calibration and Masterplanning

  • Be able to interpret and manipulate geospatial datasets for hydraulic modelling using ArcGIS or QGIS.

  • Produce reports and presentations at high levels of professional and technical calibre suitable for presenting to clients.

  • Apply sound engineering judgement and best practices to arrive at technical decisions that drive innovative, fit-for-purpose and value-engineered solutions to meet project and client needs.
