Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Engineer – Hydrology to support project delivery, involving hydrological and hydraulic modelling tasks. The role requires collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in civil engineering and possess a strong understanding of stormwater systems. Familiarity with GCC standards is preferred.

Job Description

This role is to work as part of a team to support the delivery of projects under the supervision of an Associate or Principal Engineer.

Responsibilities
  • Senior Engineer – Hydrology, contributing to hydrology growth.
  • Lead and support hydrological and hydraulic modelling tasks using tools such as InfoWorks ICM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SewerGEMS, QGIS, Flowmaster, and culvert design software.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of stormwater management reports for accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and cross‑disciplinary groups including CAD, Road, Landscape, Geotech, Environment, etc., to ensure seamless project integration.
  • Coordinate with the CAD team to develop and review stormwater drawings and ensure alignment with modelling outputs.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers in model development, calibration, and report writing.
  • Contribute to the delivery of project packages alongside Principals and Associates, ensuring timely and quality outcomes.
  • Basic knowledge of Civil 3D and BIM to support design integration and visualization.
  • Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, and project planning sessions as required.
  • Stay updated with relevant technical developments within the discipline.
  • Submit weekly timesheets and embed Health & Safety into all work practices in line with company policies.
  • Support the company’s approach to sustainability and identify improvements to enhance services to clients.
Mandatory Skills
  • Strong understanding of stormwater systems, hydrological processes, and drainage design.
  • Familiarity with local and international stormwater design standards, including GCC standards and manuals.
  • Computer literacy with experience of appropriate modelling software or equivalent Excel spreadsheet calculations.
  • Good English communication skills.
  • Location: Middle East or UK as projects dictate.
  • Key competencies: Technical Capability & Delivery; Adaptability & Learning.
  • Preferred: Previous project experience in any GCC country, including coordinating with local government agencies for design approvals (NOCs).
Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering, water resources, or a related field.
