Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Ohmium Operations Private Limited seeks a materials scientist to validate coating solutions for PEM stack components and optimize coating parameters through thorough characterization and cell testing.
You will perform SEM/EDX, XRD, profilometry, and cross-sectional imaging as part of qualification activities and develop material specifications for coated components. Collaboration with design, reliability and manufacturing teams is essential.
Validate alternative coating solutions for PEM stack components and determine optimal coating parameters through coating characterization, component-level evaluation, and cell performance testing. Evaluate coating microstructure, elemental composition, and adhesion characteristics through SEM/EDX, XRD, profilometry, and cross-sectional imaging to support material qualification and process optimization. Create and control material specification documents for coated materials, PEM stack components to facilitate qualification activities, design validation, and manufacturing implementation.
Execute electrochemical characterization using LSV, CV, EIS, and polarization testing to assess material performance, identify degradation pathways, and drive component qualification and product reliability improvements.
Develop component-level qualification protocols to evaluate material selectivity, performance, reliability, and fitness for use in PEM electrolyzer components.
Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and documentation to effectively communicate experimental results, analysis, and recommendations.
Work closely with testing, design, reliability, and process engineering teams to evaluate material options and drive product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform risk assessments and hazard identification for experimental activities, equipment operation, chemical handling, and testing procedures. Adhere to lab safety and EHS protocols when handling precious-metal-group (PGM) catalysts, acids, solvents, and other coating chemicals.
Strong knowledge of fundamental electrochemistry, material science, and electrochemical systems, with the ability to correlate material properties to component and cell performance. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with R&D, design, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams.
Take end-to-end ownership of material qualification, component validation, and performance evaluation activities to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
B Tech in Chemical Engineering or M.Sc. in Chemistry or Materials Science or related field with 2+ years of industry experience is required. Prior experience from fuel cells, electrolyzer, battery, electroplating, semiconductor or automotive component manufacturing industry is a plus. Familiarity with characterization/inspection tools such as coating thickness gauges, SEM, XRD, or adhesion/pull testers is desired.
