Job Description

Position Title: Engineer/ Sr. Engineer – Hardware Electronics

Domain: Satellite and Space Electronics

Education: B.E./ B. Tech./M.E./M. Tech in Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Telecommunications, Avionics, or a related discipline

Industry: Research, development, qualification, and manufacturing of high-reliability electronic systems for satellites, launch vehicles, spacecraft, payloads, and ground-support equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities Hardware Design and Development
  • Analyze system, subsystem, functional, electrical, environmental, and interface requirements.
  • Finalize hardware architecture for satellite avionics, payload electronics, power-control units,communication modules, and onboard processing systems.
  • Select space-grade, radiation-tolerant, or military-grade componentsbased on mission requirements.
  • Perform component derating, reliability assessment, lifecycle analysis, and obsolescence management.
  • Prepare system power budgets, power-distribution architecture, load calculations, power sequencing, and protection schemes.
  • Design analog, digital, mixed-signal, high-speed, power-supply, and interface circuits.
  • Prepare detailed schematics, engineering calculations, design notes,and Bills of Materials.
  • Perform circuit analysis and simulation using suitable simulation and design tools.
  • Implement fault detection, isolation, recovery, redundancy, current limiting, and protection features as required by the mission.
EMI/EMC, Signal Integrity and Power Integrity
  • Implement grounding, shielding, filtering, isolation, and protection techniques to meet spacecraft EMI/EMC requirements.
  • Perform signal-integrity and power-integrity analysis for high-speed interfaces, memory buses,clocks, and power rails.
  • Define controlled-impedance, termination, routing,stack-up, grounding, and decoupling requirements for PCB layout.
  • Review PCB layouts, fabrication data, Gerber files, ODB++ data, assembly drawings, and manufacturing outputs.
  • Perform electrical stress analysis,worst-case circuit analysis,tolerance analysis, and component derating analysis.
Documentation and Manufacturing Support
  • Prepare module-level and PCB-level assembly drawings.
  • Prepare detailed wiring diagrams, interface-control documents, connector pinouts, and cable-harness requirements.
  • Prepare hardware design descriptions, test procedures, verificationdocuments, compliance matrices, anddesign-review presentations.
  • Prepare electrical power-dissipation data and input documents for thermal and mechanical analysis.
  • Coordinate with PCB-layout, mechanical, thermal, firmware, FPGA, manufacturing, quality, andsystem-engineering teams.
  • Support fabrication, assembly, inspection, rework, and high-reliability manufacturing of PCBs and electronic modules.
  • Support component procurement, alternate-part evaluation, counterfeit-risk mitigation, and parts approval processes.
Testing, Qualification and Integration
  • Develop module-level and system-level hardware test plans and test procedures.
  • Perform board bring-up, debugging, functional testing, performance validation, and failure analysis.
  • Support environmental and qualification testing, including:
    • Thermal testing
    • Vibration and mechanical-shock testing
    • EMI/EMC testing
    • Burn-in and reliability testing
    • Radiation testing, where applicable
  • Support engineering-model, qualification-model, flight-model, and proto-flight-model integration.
  • Analyze test failures and implement corrective and preventive design actions.
  • Incorporate engineering changes identified during development, integration, environmental testing,and qualification.
  • Participate in design reviews such as PDR, CDR, TRR, QR, and FRR.
Required Technical Skills

Experiencein designing microprocessors, microcontrollers, DSP, SoCs,and FPGA-based systems,including boot, reset, clock, watchdog, power sequencing, redundancy, and fault-tolerant architectures.

Knowledge of communication interfaces such as MIL-STD-1553B, CAN, RS-422/485, UART, SPI, I²C, JTAG, Ethernet, USB, PCIe, LVDS, SerDes, telemetry, telecommand, and CCSDS concepts. Familiarity with DDR, LPDDR, SDRAM, Flash, EEPROM, MRAM, ECC, signal integrity, timing, impedance control, analog signal conditioning, ADCs, DACs, low-noise circuits, DC-DC converters, LDOs, power distribution, sequencing, monitoring, and electrical protection circuits.

Design and Analysis
  • Schematic-capture and PCB-design tools
  • SPICE-based circuit simulation

  • Reliability analysis, FMEA/FMECA, and fault-tree analysis

Preferred Experience
  • Hardware development for satellite avionics, payload electronics, onboard computers, telemetry and telecommand systems, power-conditioning units, or launch-vehicle electronics.
  • Experience in designing electronics for vacuum, radiation, vibration, shock, and extreme-temperature environments.
  • Knowledge of radiation-tolerant design techniques and selection of high-reliability electronic components.
  • Experience with space-qualified component databases, parts-control processes, and traceability requirements.
  • Exposure to high-reliability PCB design, assembly, inspection, and qualification practices.
