Job summary

Emerson in Chengalpattu (Pressure Management) seeks a leader to drive supplier development, implement Lean and Six Sigma projects, and coordinate with Procurement, Quality and Engineering to raise supplier performance across the value chain.

You will conduct audits, lead corrective actions, manage NPD support, monitor metrics like on-time delivery and quality, and mentor teams while traveling up to 40% to supplier sites.

Qualifications

  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Ability to read prints and understand GD&T.
  • Strong MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project.
  • Travel up to 40% and international experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, project management and auditing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier continuous improvement projects.

  • Create SCARs and track corrective-action effectiveness.
  • Follow up ECNs with suppliers as needed.
  • Lead on-site quality system audits (ESAC) and close issues.
  • Assist commodity managers in supplier business reviews.
  • Drive world-area supply chain performance improvements.

Job Summary:

Provide supplier development leadership, technical expertise, and project management of performance improvement initiatives with suppliers. Coordinate supplier improvement needs with Strategic Procurement, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Engineering and Operations personnel. Position at (Pressure Management Business unit At Mahindra World City, Chengalpattu) is a strategic resource that will plan, develop and implement actions to drive continuous improvement at suppliers.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Lead Supplier Continuous Improvement projects
  • Conduct supplier trainings if necessary to improve supplier's performance
  • New and potential suppliers audits to understand and assess their quality system to determine if it meets Emerson requirements.
  • Develop and follow up corrective actions or development plans to supplier until meets our objectives
  • Commodity Projects Support, including but not limited on NPD, Regionalization, Localization, Supplier Shifts for Risk Mitigation, Cost Savings or Tooling Replacement
  • Conduct Technical Reviews for NPD FA & Pilot Run, follow with suppliers in cooperation with Commodity Teams and Quality Teams
  • Monitor and improve the performance of awarded suppliers
  • Resolve NCR as soon as possible, least but not limited to communicate with suppliers, coordinate rework, root cause analysis and corrective action plan, improvement and follow up
  • Create SCAR to supplier for following up corrective actions completion & tracking effectiveness
  • Follow up ECN with suppliers in time
  • Use appropriate tools and processes, to include, but may not be limited to the following: Lean Techniques, Six Sigma Tools, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Capability Studies, Process Mapping, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility Analysis (Gage R&R)
  • Manage projects through completion, using Quality Assurance, Engineering and Procurement associates as needed across the business
  • Conduct training at suppliers in the use of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and global Supplier Quality Manual requirements
  • Track and monitor supplier performance metrics of On Time Delivery, analyze and derive action plans for eliminating the root causes of any delays, which affects the delivery performance, process improvements to reduce lead time etc., in respective world area
  • Conduct project briefings to upper-level management
  • Lead supplier approvals process; conduct on-site quality system (ESAC) and process audits, to include follow up and closure of open items discovered during the audits
  • Assist commodity managers in leading supplier business reviews
  • Lead world-area supply chain performance improvements in support of business needs; areas of improvement include on-time delivery, quality, cost initiatives, and intra-company parts/assembly issues
  • World-area responsibility for supply chain performance.
  • Understand the Commodity requirements as per global standards like ASTM,ASME & ISO to provide technical support to the suppliers for NPD & Batch productions.
  • Responsible for key supplier performance in terms of PPM and lead time metrics

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is necessary, and possessing certification as a Green Belt or Black Belt would provide an extra benefit.
  • Able to read prints and understand Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills – Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Travel - 40%
  • International experience preferred. English required; Multilingual preferred
  • Ability to identify areas of opportunity, develop and implement plans and solutions ensuring continuous improvement
  • Must possess project management and auditing skills
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical /Metallurgical) required. Expertise in sand casting, investment casting, Forging, machining, metallurgy and experience in die casting, rubber, plastic, springs, stampings are a plus.
  • 8+ years' experience in supplier improvement efforts with demonstrated analytical, communication, project management and decision-making skills; operations and/or procurement experience preferred
