Job summary

Gradiant is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of WTP/ETP/WWTP and desalination plants in India. You will coordinate with process, civil, piping, and instrumentation teams and manage equipment specifications, vendor proposals, and drawings to ensure on-time delivery within budget.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in water/wastewater mechanical engineering, EPC exposure, and strong collaboration skills to drive project success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in water/wastewater systems.
  • Experience in EPC environments and international projects.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with ANSI, ASME, API standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design of WTP/ETP/STP/WWTP/Desalination plants, selecting and sizing pumps, compressors, heat exchangers and other components.
  • Ensure seamless integration of mechanical components into the overall treatment system.
  • Prepare equipment specifications and support RFQ processes; evaluate proposals and advise on technical and budget matters.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specs for equipment and materials.
  • Prepare equipment lists and datasheets; review vendor drawings and documents.
  • Interface with Process, Civil/Structural, Piping and Instrumentation Engineers for complete engineering work.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Project Manager to plan and execute projects on time and within budget.
  • Participate in design reviews and progress assessments to meet project objectives.
  • Perform calculations to assess performance and reliability of mechanical systems; propose optimization solutions.
  • Ensure designs and installations comply with applicable codes and safety standards; conduct quality control reviews.
  • Support cost estimation and budgeting for mechanical components and equipment.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Global Engineering Center team to execute International and Local projects in India. The ideal candidate will have 10 years of relevant experience, with a preference for those who have worked in an EPC environment, international project experience.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical design of WTP / ETP / STP / WWTP / Desal treatment plants, including the selection and sizing of equipment such as pumps, compressors, Blowers, heat exchangers, dewatering devices, and other mechanical components excluding tanks and pressure vessels.
  • Ensure seamless integration of these components into the overall treatment system.
  • Equipment Specification and Procurement / RFQ: Prepare technical specifications for mechanical equipment and work with vendors to procure the required components. Evaluate equipment proposals and make recommendations based on technical and budgetary considerations.
  • Confirm compliance with customer specifications for equipment and material types;
  • Prepare equipment List, equipment datasheets, valve lists, Component datasheet etc.)
  • Review and approve drawings and documents from Vendors.
  • Interface with Process, Civil / Structural, Piping, Instrumentation Engineers for complete engineering work.
  • Collaborate with Technical project manager to plan and execute projects on time and on budgeted manhours.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and progress assessments to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Perform engineering calculations to assess the performance and reliability of mechanical systems. Address technical challenges and propose solutions to optimize system performance.
  • Quality Control and Compliance: Ensure that all mechanical designs and installations comply with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices. Conduct quality control reviews to verify design integrity and safety.
  • Cost Estimation and Budget Management: Collaborate with the project team to prepare cost estimates for mechanical components and equipment. Identify cost-saving opportunities where applicable.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years in mechanical engineering with expertise in water and/or wastewater treatment systems.
  • Familiar with industrial standards like ANSI, ASME, API, etc.
  • Strong understanding of various mechanical components and equipment used in water and/or wastewater treatment systems.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
