Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking an HPC Systems Engineer to optimize clustered HPC environments and guide EDA workloads. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient HPC operations in a research and development setting.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with HPC software, job schedulers, and scripting, plus familiarity with ML frameworks and EDA tools from Cadence, Synopsys, or Siemens. Excellent communication and leadership are valued.

Qualifications

• Proficient with Unix/Linux OS and file systems.
• Scripting in Bash, Python, Perl, Tcl, or C/C++ is required.
• Experience leading complex HPC projects.
• Knowledge of EDA tools from Cadence, Synopsys, or Siemens is a plus.
• Familiarity with ML/AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow) is beneficial.

Job Description

• Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing clustered HPC systems and develop strategies to enhance performance, scalability, and utilization.
• Serve as a primary technical contact for HPC end users, providing guidance on running simulations and promoting best practices across the user community.
• Design, write, and maintain software to drive, tune, and monitor EDA workloads within the HPC grid.
• Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation related to HPC infrastructure and EDA workflows.
• Research emerging software and systems technologies to support recommendations and purchasing decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure secure, stable, and optimized HPC operations.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Minimum of 2.5 - 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or High-Performance Computing.
• Hands-on experience with HPC system software and cluster management tools, including job schedulers such as LSF, SGE, RTDA, or similar.
• Strong proficiency with Unix/Linux operating systems and file systems.
• Fundamental programming and scripting skills using Bash, Perl, Python, Tcl, and/or C/C++.
• Experience with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and suites from Cadence, Synopsys, and Siemens.
• Familiarity with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence frameworks (e.g.,LLM, TensorFlow) is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership for complex, large-scale computing projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently identify and resolve HPC grid issues.
• Ability to define and implement processes that maintain system performance and promote best practices.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Proven ability to build positive working relationships and collaborate effectively with team members.
