Job summary

WSP India is seeking an engineering designer for its GCC Development team to produce detailed highway and drainage designs and construction drawings across Noida, Bengaluru, and Mumbai offices.

The candidate should have 4+ years of post-graduate experience in core highway design, with proficiency in Open Roads, InRoads, Geopak, and Civil 3D, and familiarity with US and UK standards. International collaboration and occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Professional/near-professional engineer with at least 4 years post-graduate experience in core highway design.
• Knowledge of AASHTO, DMRB, MUTCD, and FHWA standards/guidelines.
• Familiarity with US/UK highway standards desirable.
• Proficiency in design software and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Deliver technically sound highway design within budget, quality, and schedule constraints for US/intl markets.
• Coordinate with US-based lead design teams and local teams to ensure timely project delivery.
• Liaise with multiple offices to optimize resources and workload.
• Support potential secondments to US offices to understand WSP methods.

Responsibilities

Key Competencies / Skills

• The successful candidate is likely to be a Professional or near-Professional engineer having at least 4 years’ post-graduate similar work experience in Core highway design field.
• Ensuring technical delivery of highway to budget, quality and programme constraints for the US and/or international market.
• Familiarity with US highway, UK highway standards is desirable.
• Proficiency in Open Roads, Inroads, In Roads, and/or Geopak , Civil 3D /similar design software.
• Applied knowledge and understanding with AASHTO, DMRB, MUTCD, and FHWA Standards/Specifications/Guidelines.
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, and MS office (Excel, Word, Power Point) is expected.
• Cultural awareness, an open mind and excellent English communication skills are essential requirements for the role.
• A thorough understanding and/or experience of using 3-dimensional highway design software such as Open Roads, In-Roads and/or Geopak design software would be a distinct advantage.
• You can expect to liaise with WSP’s US based lead design teams to ensure project delivery to agreed schedule, quality and budget constraints. You will also be required to work with other locally based team leaders to ensure resources are fully utilised, identified and addressed effectively and any surplus or shortfall in available staff/workload are identified timely.

The role may include short term secondment and/or visits to WSP’s US offices for better understanding of WSP’s business, assist with acclimatisation to WSP methods of working.

Desired Skills

• The successful candidate will be a dynamic, self-motivated individual who will take on a technical lead role in project work, focused on delivery to the client with technical excellence. The role requires delivery of number of projects and becoming involved in design at an early stage. The ability to plan and design deliverables per US Engineering standards for each stage of a project is a pre-requisite and training and guidance will be provided where necessary.
• Cultural awareness, conscientious and an open mind and excellent communication skills are essential requirements for the role.
• High degree of self-motivation and ability to motivate others.
• Ability to work under pressure and with minimum of supervision.

Qualifications

• Master of Science (preferably in engineering) or bachelor's degree in Cvil / Transportation Engineering
• Minimum 4 years’ working experience on infrastructure projects and detail design of highways.
• Civil engineering
• Experience to work in/with other cultures.
