Job summary

WSP India invites experienced highway engineers to join our Bengaluru team to deliver UK-based highway schemes. You will handle geometric design, drainage coordination, and pavement layouts, working with Civil 3D, OpenRoads, MX and AutoCAD among other tools.

You will liaise with UK project teams, manage multiple schemes, and mentor junior engineers while upholding QA and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with UK/International highway design standards (DMRB, TSRGD).
• Hands-on highway geometric, junction, and corridor design.
• Drainage coordination and pavement design experience.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, OpenRoads, MX, PDS/KeyLINES, AutoCAD.
• Desirable: experience with ProjectWise.
• Strong cross-disciplinary coordination and ability to work independently.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver highway engineering designs and drawings for UK-based projects.
• Undertake geometric design including horizontal & vertical alignments.
• Design elements: road geometry, pavement layouts, drainage, signage.
• Prepare technical drawings, reports, and specifications.
• Collaborate with drainage, structures, utilities to develop integrated design solutions.
• Liaise with UK project stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
• Manage and deliver multiple projects/work packages simultaneously.
• Ensure compliance with design standards, QA processes and Health & Safety policies.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers.

Job Description

• You should be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of and experience of UK highway design including road geometry, pavement, signages, and road markings.
• You will be able to use the relevant design software such as Civil 3D, Open Roads, MX, PDS/Key Line and Sign, AutoCAD and ProjectWise.
• Proficient in use of standard office software
• Confidence to seek clarification of instructions and work scope
• Able to liaise as necessary with the UK project team to deliver the schemes/projects
• You will be quick to pick up new ideas and skills, and be able to think laterally to generate new solutions to problems.
• Good written and verbal communication skillsPreparation of Development Drainage Strategies

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver highway engineering designs and construction drawings for UK-based projects in line with DMRB and relevant UK standards
• Undertake geometric design, including horizontal & vertical alignments, junctions, and corridor modelling
• Design elements such as:
  • Road geometry
  • Pavement layouts
  • Drainage strategies
  • Signage & road markings
• Prepare technical drawings, reports, and specifications to a high standard
• Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams (drainage, structures, utilities, etc.) to develop integrated design solutions
• Liaise with UK project stakeholders to ensure timely and high-quality delivery
• Manage and deliver multiple projects/work packages simultaneously
• Ensure compliance with design standards, QA processes, and Health & Safety policies
• Proactively identify risks, constraints, and design challenges, and propose practical solutions
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, supporting team capability development

Qualifications

• Strong experience in UK or any International highway design standards (DMRB, TSRGD, etc.)
• Hands-on experience in:
  • Highway geometric design
  • Junction and corridor design
  • Pavement and drainage coordination
• Proficiency in design tools such as:
  • Civil 3D / OpenRoads / MX / PDS / KeyLINES / AutoCAD
• Experience with ProjectWise is desirable
• Good understanding of multi-disciplinary coordination and design integration
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
