Job summary

GE Vernova, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design, analyze, and optimize electrical components across LV, MV, and HV systems within the Generator & Electrical Systems portfolio.

The role spans from concept to field issue resolution, ensuring safety, reliability, and performance. The engineer will lead design activities on new builds, develop diagrams and specifications, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and Lean initiatives.

Qualifications

• BS/BE in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 0–2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Site Installation & Commissioning and/or Manufacturing Quality Engineering.
• Strong focus on safety, quality, execution, and process/execution rigor.
• Familiarity with electrical simulation software and power system analysis tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, PSCAD.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze electrical components for LV, MV, HV systems across the product portfolio.
• Create design documents including single-line diagrams, wiring and loop diagrams, layouts and specifications.
• Lead the design effort as SPoC for electrical engineering scope on projects.
• Perform sizing studies, prepare functional specifications, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead vendor qualification activities and support RCA/CAPA to improve reliability.

Job Description Summary

The Electrical Design Engineer within Generator & Electrical Systems(GES) organization will play a pivotal role in designing, analyzing, and optimizing products within the Gas Power portfolio. This role involves working across various stages of the product lifecycle, from initial design through field issue resolution. The engineer will ensure technical excellence, safety, and performance of electrical components and systems through advanced analysis, innovative design, and continuous improvement.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and analyze electrical components applicable to LV, MV and HV systems across the Generator and Electrical product portfolio.
• Create design documentation, including single line diagrams, wiring and elementary drawings, loop diagrams, specifications, layouts, and other arrangement drawings.
• Serve as the Lead Design Engineer (LDE) or Lead Electrical Engineer (LEE) on new build projects and act as the Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for the electrical engineering scope.
• Prepare functional specifications for electrical components, electrical interconnections, and interface documents based on sizing studies, contractual requirements, and applicable regulatory codes and standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, CSA, IECEx, ATEX), and reference designs.
• Lead and support new vendor qualification activities in collaboration with GEV Sourcing.
• Perform and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and develop Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to improve product reliability, quality, and performance.
• Support supplier design evaluations and the technical assessment and disposition of supplier offers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret & develop Single Line Diagrams and develop wiring, loop, instrumentation, and schematic diagrams. Apply electrical design principles to adapt and improve overall system design.
• Take technical ownership of electrical hardware and systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project execution and process improvement.
• Participate in peer and design reviews, develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Controlled Title Holders, analysis experts, and global engineering sites, and contribute to solving complex engineering problems.
• Comply with R&D processes, local codes & standards, manage project milestones, and seek peer validation to ensure technical quality and design integrity.
• Support tendering and bidding activities through engineering calculations, technical assessments, and recommendations.
• Embrace LEAN principles and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING - Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 0 –2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Site Installation & Commissioning and/or Manufacturing Quality Engineering Function.
