Job summary

Alten is seeking an electrical design engineer to contribute to the design and development of diesel generator set control panels. The role requires hands-on experience with Genset wiring harnesses, MIL standards, and using EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or CREO for schematics and layouts.

You will develop detailed electrical drawings, integrate AMF/ATP panels, and select critical components like protective relays and governors. Strong cable sizing and short-circuit analysis skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in design and development of DG set control panels.
• Hands-on knowledge of Genset wiring harnesses and power/control harnesses.
• Proficiency with EPLAN; AutoCAD Electrical or CREO preferred.
• Familiarity with MIL standards and electrical engineering calculations.
• Cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, short-circuit analysis, and protection relays.

Responsibilities

• Perform cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit analysis, and select cables as per requirements.
• Prepare BOM and participate in PLM process.

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Hand on experience of design & development of Genset control panels.
• Should have good knowledge of Engine wiring harness & other power/control harness used in the DG sets.
• Good knowledge of design standards used in the Genset.
• Hands-on experience in EPLAN is required. Knowledge or experience in AutoCAD Electrical and CREO is preferred.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings for diesel generator sets, control panels, and switchgears according to MIL standards
• Design and integrate AMF /ATP Panels with respect to Customer requirements, and having a knowledge of Genset controllers like Deep Sea Electronics.
• Components and MIL connectors selections.
• Development of control panel fabrication in 3D model and Knowledge of IP rating and EMI/EMC panel requirements
• Perform critical electrical engineering calculations, including:
• Cable sizing and voltage drop calculations.
• Short-circuit current analysis and breaker sizing.
• Select and specify major electrical components (circuit breakers, CTs, AVRs, governors, and protection relays).
• Selection of power cables as per tender and Standard requirements.
• Deep understanding of alternators, excitation systems (AVR), governing systems, Switch gear, Relay ,cables and Protective system selections.
• Have knowledge of Bill of material preparation, PLM process.
