Job summary

GE Vernova in Noida, India, is seeking an Engineering Professional to join the FACTS Solution Line. You will develop and validate STATCOM/FACTS control algorithms, conduct power system studies and dynamic simulations with PSCAD, PSSE and MATLAB/Simulink, and work on real-time validation with EMT/RMS models.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with PSCAD, PSSE, MATLAB/Simulink and RTDS for modelling and real-time validation.
  • Experience in STATCOM/FACTS control algorithms, EMT/RMS simulations, HIL testing and controller tuning.
  • Electrical engineering degree with power systems specialization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement control algorithms for STATCOM/FACTS applications.
  • Perform power system studies and dynamic simulations using PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.
  • Develop, validate and optimize control functions including voltage and reactive power control.
  • Build and maintain RMS & EMT simulation models for control design and validation.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Test, Site Commissioning and troubleshooting activities.
  • Prepare technical documentation, simulation reports, and software release documents.
  • Provide technical support during customer discussions and project execution.
  • Collaborate with System Design, Control Hardware, Protection, SCADA and commissioning teams.
  • Experience on STATCOM control system architecture and hardware specifications is an advantage.

The candidate should possess strong hands‑on experience in PSCAD, PSSE, MATLAB/Simulink and RTDS for power system modelling, control development and real time validation. Experience in STATCOM/FACTS control algorithms, EMT/RMS simulations, HIL testing and Controller tuning will be preferred.

These systems are used to control power system voltage and reactive power flow as well as to improve the power system stability and transmission system efficiency. We are looking for Engineering Professionals to join the FACTS Solution Line team. The position will be based in Noida, India with hybrid working flexibility. You will be working on cutting edge technology and varied international high‑profile projects. In this position, you will be reporting to Engineering Manager – Control Software, Noida office and it can be considered a top priority position to perform in a critical engineering discipline for overall FACTS business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Control & Protection Hardware Engineering
  • Develop and implement control algorithms for STATCOM and FACTS application.
  • Perform power system studies and dynamic simulations using PSCAD, MATLAB Simulink etc.
  • Develop, validate and optimize control functions including voltage control, reactive power control, current control and fault ride through.
  • Built and maintain RMS & EMT simulation models for control design and system performance validation.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Test, Site Commissioning and troubleshooting activities.
  • Prepare technical documentation, simulation reports, control philosophy, and software release documents.
  • Provide technical support during customer discussions and project execution.
  • Collaborate with System Design, Control Hardware, Protection, SCADA and commissioning team.
  • Experience on STATCOM control system architecture and hardware specifications will be added advantage.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 4 – 8 years of relevant experience in Substation/FACTS/HVDC Projects.
  • Minimum2 years of experience specifically in STATCOM/FACTS/HVDCprojects.
  • Experience in utility scale grid integration and EHV substations preferred.
  • BTech/MTech degree in Electrical Engineering preferably in Power System.
  • Strong prioritizing and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple project priorities.
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong ownership and accountability.
  • Effective communication with global teams.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Desire to work in international environment.
