Job summary

GE Vernova in Noida, India, seeks Engineering Professionals for the FACTS Solution Line to model power systems, develop controls, and validate in real time on global projects.

You will work on STATCOM/FACTS control algorithms, EMT/RMS simulations, HIL testing, and software release documentation, collaborating with international teams in a hybrid setup. Relocation assistance is provided.

Qualifications

  • 4–8 years in Substation/FACTS/HVDC projects.
  • Minimum 2 years specifically in STATCOM/FACTS/HVDC projects.
  • BTech/MTech in Electrical Engineering, preferably in Power System.
  • Strong prioritizing and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple project priorities with a team-oriented mindset.
  • Effective communication with global teams.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Desire to work in an international environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement control algorithms for STATCOM and FACTS applications.
  • Perform power system studies and dynamic simulations using PSCAD and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Develop, validate and optimize control functions including voltage and reactive power control.
  • Build and maintain RMS/EMT simulation models for design validation.
  • Support FAT, site commissioning and troubleshooting activities.
  • Prepare technical documentation and software release documents.
  • Collaborate with System Design, Control Hardware, Protection, SCADA and commissioning teams.

Job description

Job Description Summary The candidate should possess strong hands-on experience in PSCAD, PSSE, MATLAB/Simulink and RTDS for power system modelling, control development and real time validation. Experience in STATCOM/FACTS control algorithms, EMT/RMS simulations, HIL testing and Controller tuning will be preferred.

GE Vernova delivers reactive power compensators such as Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM) and Static Var Compensators (SVC), on which we are the global FACTS Solution Line based in Finland, India, Brazil and US. These systems are used to control power system voltage and reactive power flow as well as to improve the power system stability and transmission system efficiency. We are looking for Engineering Professionals to join the FACTS Solution Line team. The position will be based in Noida, India with hybrid working flexibility. You will be working on cutting edge technology and varied international high-profile projects. In this position, you will be reporting to Engineering Manager – Control Software, Noida office and it can be considered a top priority position to perform in a critical engineering discipline for overall FACTS business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Control & Protection Hardware Engineering
  • Develop and implement control algorithms for STATCOM and FACTS application.
  • Perform power system studies and dynamic simulations using PSCAD, MATLAB Simulink etc.
  • Develop, validate and optimize control functions including voltage control, reactive power control, current control and fault ride through.
  • Built and maintain RMS & EMT simulation models for control design and system performance validation.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Test, Site Commissioning and troubleshooting activities.
  • Prepare technical documentation, simulation reports, control philosophy, and software release documents.
  • Provide technical support during customer discussions and project execution.
  • Collaborate with System Design, Control Hardware, Protection, SCADA and commissioning team.
  • Experience on STATCOM control system architecture and hardware specifications will be added advantage.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 4 - 8 years of relevant experience in Substation/FACTS/HVDC Projects.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience specifically in STATCOM/FACTS/HVDC projects.
  • Experience in utility scale grid integration and EHV substations preferred.
  • BTech/MTech degree in Electrical Engineering preferably in Power System.
  • Strong prioritizing and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple project priorities Team-oriented mindset with strong ownership and accountability Effective communication with global teams.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Desire to work in international environment.
Preferred Industry Background:

Candidates from following industry will be preferred: FACTS / STATCOM HVDC
