Job summary

Paras Health in India is seeking an endoscopy support professional to prepare the room, confirm instrument readiness, and assist during procedures including gastroscopy and colonoscopy.

You will maintain infection control, handle specimens with care, and ensure proper labeling and transfer to the lab, while keeping patient privacy and safety.

This role requires vigilance for equipment faults, stock monitoring, and adherence to hospital policies and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Experience setting up endoscopy rooms, instruments and equipment before procedures.
• Infection prevention and control practices in endoscopy.
• Ability to assist doctors during gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP and bronchoscopy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the endoscopy room, instruments, and equipment before procedures.
• Check endoscopes and accessories to ensure they are clean, functional, and ready for use.
• Assist the doctor during procedures such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, and bronchoscopy.
• Handle and pass instruments and accessories safely during the procedure.
• Maintain infection prevention and control practices.
• Perform proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization/reprocessing of endoscopes according to hospital protocols.
• Handle specimens collected during procedures and ensure correct labeling and transfer to the laboratory.
• Monitor and maintain stocks of instruments, consumables, and accessories.
• Assist with patient preparation and positioning while maintaining privacy, dignity, and safety.
• Follow safety procedures for sharps, chemicals, biological materials, and equipment.
• Identify equipment problems and report faults to the appropriate supervisor or biomedical/equipment team.
• Maintain procedure, cleaning, and equipment records as required.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe endoscopy unit.
• Follow hospital policies, standard operating procedures, and professional ethics.
• Assist with emergency situations within the scope of training and responsibility.
