About the internship:
If you have hands-on experience working on real-world embedded products, you will be strongly preferred.
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
A. Embedded Firmware Development
- 1. Develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for STM32- and ESP32-based products.
- 2. Write clean, efficient, reliable C/C++ firmware.
- 3. Work with microcontroller peripherals including GPIO, ADC, timers, PWM, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and other relevant interfaces.
- 4. Implement and maintain device drivers, communication protocols, and hardware abstraction layers.
- 5. Develop firmware features, improve existing functionality, and troubleshoot hardware-software integration issues.
- 6. Work with RTOS-based systems where applicable.
- 7. Assist in developing firmware for new electronic products and prototypes.
B. Flight Controller & FPV Electronics Firmware
- 1. Take ownership of firmware across EDITHFPV's flight controller and electronics product range, including STM32-based flight controllers and other supported MCUs.
- 2. Work on ESC and 4-in-1 ESC firmware.
- 3. Work with ExpressLRS-compatible radio receivers and other RF electronics.
- 4. Develop and maintain GPS/GNSS, telemetry, and navigation-related firmware.
- 5. Support firmware development for other embedded electronics developed by EDITHFPV.
- 6. Understand existing firmware architectures and codebases.
- 7. Configure, build, flash, and test firmware.
- 8. Modify and develop firmware features as required.
- 9. Debug issues involving sensors, motor outputs, communication buses, power management, and peripherals.
- 10. Support firmware integration with flight controller hardware.
- 11. Maintain reliable firmware releases for production and development hardware.
- 12. Experience with Betaflight, Bluejay, ExpressLRS, ArduPilot, PX4, or similar embedded/drone firmware projects is an advantage.
C. Firmware Version Management & Maintenance
- 1. Maintain firmware repositories, source code, and release history.
- 2. Use Git for version control and follow proper branching and commit practices.
- 3. Maintain firmware versions, release notes, and change logs.
- 4. Track hardware revisions and ensure firmware compatibility.
- 5. Support firmware builds, release testing, and production firmware management.
- 6. Maintain documentation for firmware configuration, flashing, and troubleshooting.
- 7. Help establish a structured firmware development and release process.
D. Embedded UI & Tools
- 1. Develop and maintain user interfaces for embedded products and related configuration tools.
- 2. Work on embedded displays, configuration interfaces, PC utilities, or web-based tools as required.
- 3. Interface firmware with UI applications through serial, USB, wireless, or other communication protocols.
- 4. Develop tools for firmware configuration, testing, diagnostics, and product setup.
- 5. Assist in improving the user experience of EDITHFPV electronics products.
E. Hardware Bring-Up & Debugging
- 1. Work closely with the hardware design team during PCB bring-up and product development.
- 2. Validate microcontroller peripherals and board functionality.
- 3. Debug firmware and hardware issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and other laboratory equipment.
- 4. Perform functional testing of flight controllers, receivers, ESCs, and other embedded products.
- 5. Assist in identifying root causes of hardware-software integration problems.
- 6. Support prototype testing and production readiness.
F. Documentation & Engineering Support
- 1. Maintain technical documentation for firmware and embedded systems.
- 2. Document bugs, fixes, test results, and implementation details.
- 3. Collaborate with hardware engineers and other members of the product development team.
- 4. Support firmware deployment, testing, and after-sales technical troubleshooting when required.

- Required Qualifications & Skills
- 1. Pursuing/recently completed degree/diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 2. Strong Embedded C/C++ skills and hands-on STM32/ESP32 experience.
- 3. Understanding of microcontroller architecture, peripherals, debugging, UART, SPI, I2C, PWM, and ADC.
- 4. Experience with Git and source code repositories.
- 5. Ability to read schematics and understand electronic hardware.
- 6. Strong debugging, problem-solving, and independent working skills.
- Preferred Experience
- 1. STM32CubeIDE/CubeMX, HAL/LL, ESP-IDF, or Arduino.
- 2. FreeRTOS or other RTOS environments.
- 3. Embedded Linux or Python-based tools.
- 4. Flight controllers, drones, FPV electronics, or robotics.
- 5. Motor control, IMUs, GPS/GNSS, telemetry, barometers, or RF communication.
- 6. Firmware build systems, CI/CD, automated testing, or embedded graphical/configuration tools.
