Job summary

Toyota Tsusho in Uttar Pradesh, India seeks an Embedded Software Manager to lead end-to-end software and system architectures for PMSM motor control ECUs and industrial drives.

You will oversee FOC/MTPA implementations and advanced observers, drive cross-functional teams, ensure safety and quality compliance, and collaborate with hardware for HIL/SIL/MIL validation across EV traction and consumer motor control applications.

Qualifications

• 12 to 20+ years of embedded engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end embedded software and system architectures for PMSM motor control ECUs, industrial drives, and appliance controls.
• Oversee implementation of FOC, MTPA, field-weakening, sensorless/sensored commutation, and advanced observers.
• Drive software engineering for EV traction, automotive thermal management, industrial servo drives, and consumer motor controls.
• Lead, mentor, and scale cross-functional embedded software and motor-control teams with sprint planning and milestones.
• Ensure safety and quality compliance to ISO 26262, IEC 61508, MISRA C, ASPICE guidelines.
• Collaborate with hardware teams for HIL/SIL/MIL validation and motor dynamometer testing.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership Architecture: Define end-to-end embedded software and system architectures for 3-phase PMSM motor control Electronic Control Units (ECUs), industrial drives, and appliance control boards.
• Algorithm Control Design: Oversee implementation of Field-Oriented Control (FOC), maximum torque per ampere (MTPA), field-weakening, sensorless/sensored commutation, and advanced observers.
• Application Scope Strategy: Drive software engineering for diverse applications including EV traction drives, automotive thermal management (electronic water pumps, cooling fans), industrial servo drives, and consumer motor control applications like air conditioning compressor controls.
• People Program Management: Lead, mentor, and scale cross-functional embedded software and motor-control engineering teams. Handle sprint planning, milestone tracking, and cross-department collaboration.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry safety and quality standards, managing software lifecycles compliant as per industry needs e.g. ISO 26262 Automotive ASIL, IEC 61508 Industrial, IEC 60730 Consumer Safety, ASPICE, and MISRA C guidelines.
• Hardware-Software Integration: Collaborate closely with power electronics, inverter hardware, and systems engineering for debugging, HIL/SIL/MIL validation, and motor dynamometer testing.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 12 to 20+ years of total embedded engineering experience, with 4+ years in a technical leadership or people-management role within motor control fields.
• Microcontroller Knowledge: Deep, hands-on architectural and low-level firmware design knowledge of ARM Cortex (M0, M3, M4, M7, R5, etc.) and dedicated motor-control MCU platforms from top silicon vendors including NXP, STMicroelectronics, Infineon, and Holtek.
• Domain Expertise: Proficiency in FOC, BLDC/PMSM motor control mathematical models, space vector modulation (SVPWM), and high-frequency inverter topologies.
• Tools Methodologies: Expertise in Embedded C/C++ programming alongside MATLAB/Simulink for Model-Based Design (MBD) and auto-code generation.
• Communication Protocols: Familiarity with automotive and industrial communication interfaces such as CAN, CAN FD, LIN, SPI, I2C, UART, and Modbus.
