What You’ll Do

As an Embedded Firmware Engineer, you will lead global teams to develop embedded software for Critical Power Solutions technology‑development projects and power‑conversion products. You will develop portions of the software—including proof‑of‑concept technology demonstrators, new products, new features, product enhancements, and bug fixes—while also architecting software for new products and analyzing existing platform software. You will develop detailed plans and schedules for feature development, work closely with fellow software engineers and cross‑functional teams to implement features, make trade‑off decisions, monitor project activities, and assist the global team in resolving issues.

Responsibilities

• Development, testing and release of embedded Linux software for technology‑development and new‑product projects (uninterruptible power supplies, energy storage, power distribution, energy metering, and similar products) while meeting schedule, cost, and product performance goals.
• Evaluate business requirements to determine potential solutions. Develop overall software architecture and requirements for technology‑development and new‑product projects.
• Develop new features and define requirements. Write and maintain functional specifications of design solutions.
• Monitor the activities of software development and adapt plans to meet the schedule. Interface closely with cross‑functional team members to create high‑quality products.
• Work with cross‑functional teams to implement new processes.
• Analyze, design, code and test software used in uninterruptible power systems, power distribution systems, and other power‑quality products.
• Develop high‑quality, high‑performing software that meets coding standards and product design requirements. Develop test plans and monitor test results.
• Document software components and interactions using flowcharts, diagrams, code comments, and code snippets.
• Perform software design reviews and code reviews for other team members. Formally release embedded software following company procedures.
• Apply best engineering practices, sound judgment, and decision making for advanced technical problem solving.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Electronics from an accredited institution and a minimum of five years of software development experience, or a Master’s Degree in the same fields with a minimum of five years of software development experience.
• Minimum of three years’ industry work experience in embedded Linux.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of development experience in a Linux environment.

Skills

• Experience with Yocto build environment and multi‑core embedded systems; experience with Dunfell and Kirkstone Linux distributions.
• Strong level skills in C and C++ with an understanding of Object‑oriented Design principles.
• Demonstrated competency using or designing systems communicating with industrial networking protocols (HTTP, TCP/IP, MQTT, Modbus, SNMP, BACnet, CAN).
• Experience leading global software projects.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and concepts.
• Experience using software development lifecycle management tools in a team environment (Jira, Git, etc.).
• Solid understanding of CyberSecurity and/or Cryptography.
• Solid understanding of software design principles, algorithms, data structures, and multi‑threading concepts.
