Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an Electromechanical Design Engineer in Chennai to develop primary layout designs for HVDC substations. You will create installation drawings, BOMs, and support FAT, installation, and commissioning activities while ensuring safety and quality.

The role requires 2–5 years in HVDC substation design, proficiency in 3D CAD tools, and experience with PLM systems. Strong communication and self-starting capability are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 2–5 years experience in design of Primary Layout for Electrical UHV/EHV substations.
• Knowledge of Autodesk Revit/ACC.
• NX/Teamcenter or similar 3D tools knowledge.
• Substation Engineering for UHV/EHV with PLM tools.
• Experience with advanced 3D CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver CAD activities on time meeting quality standards.
• Perform Substation Layout Design and installation drawings.
• Prepare bills of materials and estimate engineering hours.
• Provide technical support for FAT, installation, and commissioning of HVDC projects.
• Prepare project documentation and obtain customer approvals.
• Interact with customers, contractors and staff to ensure timely deliveries and budget adherence.
• Adhere to safety standards and mitigate risks.

Job description

The opportunity:

The Electromechanical design engineer has a responsibility to understand technical requirements for Primary engineering of HVDC converter station, Installation drawings and detail design of yard materials there by ensuring safety of the end equipment and HVDC station as a whole.

How youll make an impact:

• Demonstrate knowledge in advanced high-end CAD/CAM/CAE software(s) to ensure CAD activities are delivered on time and meet quality standard.
• Good knowledge of the design principles, guidelines and applicable standards used within Electromechanical design of HVDC Substations, HV / UHV AC Substations.
• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques and procedures to perform Substation Layout Design, Civil Inputs to civil designer, Installation drawings and detail design of connectors, insulators etc. provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours.
• Provides technical support for FAT, installation, and commissioning activities for the HVDC projects under execution (Greenfield as well as brown field).
• Prepares project documentation within ones scope of deliverables and responsible for obtaining customer approvals for the designs and drawings prepared.
• As a part of job, shall effectively interact with customers on technical issues, contractors, and other staff to achieve his/her scope ofdeliveries on time, within budget and meet highest quality standards.
• Ensures adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks.
• Exposure to Project Lifecycle Management (PLM) system with NX and Experience in HVDC project will have added benefit.
• You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

• You hold a bachelors degree in electrical / mechanical engineering.
• Minimum work experience of 2 to 5 years in Design of Primary Layout of Electrical UHV/EHV substation project.
• You should have knowledge in Autodesk Revit / ACC
• You should have knowledge in NX / Teamcenter or Similar 3D tools.
• You must have knowledge in Substation Engineering of UHV/EHV substation project along with PLM tools.
• Experience of working with advance 3D CAD tools.
• Self-starter calibre who could own tasks through to completion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
