Job summary

Hitachi Energy India in Vadodara is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to deliver product designs and engineering solutions for Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors within defined timelines and KPI targets.

You will interpret customer requirements, perform design verification, and prepare manufacturing documents in ERP while collaborating with manufacturing and customers to ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE/BIS standards. Strong CAD skills and English communication are essential.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, M.E./M.Tech/M.S in HV or Power Systems preferred.
• Experience in electrical designing of Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors.
• Strong CAD skills and familiarity with Creo/MagNet or equivalents.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

How You'll Make An Impact

• Design & Engineering Tasks (Power Transformers)
• Understand customer requirements during quotation stage and after project receipt.
• Follow engineering process to create order designs and documents, keeping project cost in mind while fully aligning with customer specifications.
• Perform design verification using engineering tools, standards, and customer requirements.
• Compile organise and archive documentation for assigned projects.
• Proactively identify risks and mitigate in solution concept stage in consultation with Manager.
• Align with manufacturing plan to deliver design specifications and create requirements in ERP.
• Actively participate in Design review meetings before finalising detailed engineering solution.
• Knowledge of 2D/3D FEM applied to electrostatic/electromagnetic simulation is preferred.
• Visit and lead discussions with customers for Design reviews, approvals & clarifications.
• Using latest technology and tools, optimise and adopt innovative design solutions employing best practices.
• Prepare/check manufacturing documents for Core‑winding‑active part 3D models, 2D drawings and Bill of material in ERP.
• Plan and monitor assigned projects consistently achieving related KPIs.
• Support services for Erection, Commissioning and site related technical matters.
• Possess knowledge of Indian and International Standards & Codes – IEC, IEEE, BIS, DIN, ISO for electrical design related aspects of power transformers and shunt reactors.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• B.E / B.Tech (Electrical) / M.E / M.Tech / M.S (High Voltage or Power System or Electrical Machines.) with 5 year or more years of industry experience in Electrical designing of Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors.
• Overall understanding and domain expertise in Power Transformer and Shunt reactor testing.
• Preferred to have knowledge and exposure to 2-D and 3-D CAD software packages like Creo/MagNet or similar.
• You have the interest and ability to work with cross competence topics.
• Having experience of working on optimisation and cost saving projects utilising alternative materials, processes and solutions.
• You have good communication skill and are fluent in English (both written and spoken).
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
