Job summary

August Energy in Pune, India, is seeking a senior electrical engineer to lead solar project delivery and operations for ground-mounted, rooftop, and BESS projects, coordinating with Head of Project Delivery and Head of Power.

You will review energy yield assessments, validate EPC designs, ensure compliance with IS/IEC/IEEE standards, and guide site supervision, testing, and documentation across India and Southeast Asia. Travel to SEA may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in electrical engineering roles within solar PV or renewable energy projects.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, grid integration, energy storage solutions, protection coordination, and energy yield optimization.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel within India and Southeast Asia.

Responsibilities

• Lead solar project delivery and operations for ground-mounted and rooftop systems, onsite and offsite.

• Review grid interconnection designs, SCADA, metering arrangements, and protection schemes.
• Prepare and enforce MQAPs, FATs, FQAPs, and robust testing and reporting frameworks.
• Monitor site execution plans and provide feedback on constructability, quality, and safety during construction.
• Collaborate with Owner's Engineers, Lender's Engineers, and Consultants; support project development teams.

Job description

This is a critical role, working in close conjunction with the Head of Project Delivery and Head of Power, to lead solar projects delivery and operations, both ground-mounted and rooftop, offsite as well as onsite projects, primarily in India but also in Southeast Asia.

The person will be responsible for reviewing and validating, energy yield assessments & electrical system designs submitted by EPC contractors, ensuring compliance, safety, and execution quality. Experienced in Design Engineering of Rooftop, Carport & Ground Mount Solar PV as well as Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys and assess client load profiles for solar PV system sizing;
• Perform energy yield assessments using tools like PVsyst or Helioscope & similar;
• Proficiency with tools such as SolarGIS, Homer Pro, ETB, Google Sketchup will be added advantage;
• Support pre-sales technical evaluations and feasibility screening of potential sites;
• Review electrical system designs including SLDs, layouts, cable schedules, and protection schemes;
• Validate EPC submissions for compliance with international and local electrical codes and safety standards;
• Assess grid interconnection designs, SCADA systems, and metering arrangements;
• Evaluate transformer sizing, inverter configurations, and earthing systems, power system studies;
• Conduct technical due diligence and risk assessments for electrical components;
• Ensure proper integration of electrical systems with civil and structural designs;
• Prepare and enforce strong MQAP's, FAT's, FQAP's, robust testing practices & reporting framework;
• Monitor site execution plans and ensure alignment with approved electrical designs;
• Provide expert feedback to EPCs on constructability, quality, and safety by conducting regular site visits during construction;
• Work closely with Owner's Engineers, Lender's Engineers, and Consultants;
• Support internal teams with electrical engineering insights during project development and execution; and
• Maintain documentation and support audits and reporting processes.

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field;
• 8-10 years successful experience in electrical engineering roles within solar PV or renewable energy projects;
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, grid integration, energy storage solutions, protection coordination, and energy yield optimization;
• Spirit of dedication and teamwork;
• Resourceful and self-driven;
• Prior involvement in projects across Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines is a plus;
• Familiarity with international standards (IS, IEC, IEEE) and regional electrical practices;
• Exposure to Wind Power and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will be considered an added advantage; and
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
