Job summary

S&R Associates is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer in Chennai to design and develop electrical systems for High Tension and Low Tension projects. The role includes preparing Single Line Diagrams, creating detailed electrical drawings, and performing electrical calculations.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge in electrical design, proficiency in AutoCAD, and good communication skills. This is an onsite role, requiring collaboration with clients and site teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

Job description

Role & Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical systems for High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) projects
• Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLD) along with detailed specifications as per project requirements
• Create and review detailed electrical drawings and layouts using design tools
• Design lighting, power distribution, and networking layouts for various projects
• Perform electrical calculations, including load calculations and cable sizing for MEP equipment
• Plan and prepare cable tray layouts, cable trench layouts, and cable schedules
• Develop Bill of Quantity (BOQ) and Bill of Materials (BOM) as per project drawings
• Coordinate with clients for drawing approvals and ensure compliance with design requirements
• Collaborate with site teams and engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Monitor and track project progress through daily, weekly, and monthly reports
• Coordinate with vendors for equipment layout and review GA (General Arrangement) drawings
• Ensure all electrical designs comply with IS standards and project specifications

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Strong knowledge of Electrical Design (HT & LT)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit MEP is an advantage)
• Experience in SLD, layouts, BOQ/BOM preparation
• Knowledge of cable sizing and electrical calculations
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Ability to manage project timelines and multitasking
• Willing to work in Chennai (onsite role)
