Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Hazard Communication, Emergency Response Planning, Forklift Safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)).
Conduct routine and specialized EHS inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory standards (OSHA, equivalent local bodies) and company policies.
Lead the investigation of all workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
Manage the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Risk Assessment processes for new equipment, processes, and facility modifications.
Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations (EPA, local environmental agencies) related to air emissions, wastewater discharge, hazardous waste management, and storm water pollution prevention (SWPPP).
Oversee the storage, handling, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
Manage environmental permits and coordinate necessary regulatory reporting (e.g., Tier II, Annual Waste Summaries).
Promote waste minimization and energy efficiency initiatives throughout the facility.
Develop and deliver mandatory EHS training sessions for new hires and current employees, ensuring documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
Serve as the EHS liaison, communicating effectively with management, employees, and regulatory agencies.
Lead the site Safety Committee, promoting employee involvement and ownership of EHS initiatives.
Maintain all required EHS documentation, including training records, inspection logs, incident reports, and regulatory filings.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Lost Time Injury Rate (LTIR), Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), and environmental metrics.
Prepare detailed EHS performance reports for senior management on a regular basis.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Certifications: Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Technical Knowledge:
Deep functional knowledge of US Federal and State OSHA standards (or equivalent international standards).
Familiarity with environmental regulations, including EPA requirements for waste and water.
Proven ability to conduct effective root cause analysis (RCA).
Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to work independently.
Ability to walk, stand, climb, and maneuver around manufacturing equipment and worksites frequently.
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
