Job summary

Cactus Communications is seeking Editorial Project Managers on a contract basis with subject-matter expertise across biomedical sciences. You will screen submissions, verify titles, authors, COIs, and references, and ensure adherence to journal guidelines.

You will coordinate with authors for revisions, support day-to-day operations within tight turnarounds, and report quality issues. This role offers remote work anywhere in India and exposure to global scholarly publishing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Publishing, Life Sciences, Medicine, or Psychology.
• Strong understanding of manuscript formatting and journal guidelines.
• Familiarity with ethical publication standards.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience with manuscript submission and tracking systems.
• Experience in academic publishing or editorial processes.

Job description

We are currently looking for Editorial Project Managers on contract with subject-matter expertise across the biomedical sciences.

Job Responsibilities

1. Screen submissions (~250-280/month) against a prescribed set of checks including but not limited to:

• Verify manuscript title accuracy and ensure consistency with journal guidelines.
• Cross-check author names, affiliations, and conflict of interest (COI) statements for completeness and accuracy.
• Review abstracts and manuscript structure to ensure they adhere to formatting and submission requirements.
• Validate references for proper formatting, relevance, and completeness.
• Ensure ethical guidelines are met, including plagiarism and data integrity checks.
• Check the accuracy and formatting of figures, tables, and supplementary materials.

2. Coordinate with authors as needed (revision requests, article corrections/withdrawals).

3. Support day-to-day operational activities independently within the expected TAT (ensuring correct file uploads, author responses address reviewer comments, etc.) and coordination with the relevant stakeholders.

4. Document and report quality issues found during the review process.
