Oxford University Press (OUP) invites applications for an Editorial Administrator within our Research Editorial team. You will support the acquisition and commissioning activities that bring world-class academic and reference content to a global audience, working with editors, authors, reviewers, and cross-functional colleagues to move projects from proposal to publication and beyond.

This role offers exposure to commissioning, peer review management, digital publishing projects, Open Access

Qualifications

  • Degree educated or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong proofreading and research skills.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively solve problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Previous experience within publishing or academic publishing.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience working with databases, content management systems, or publishing platforms.

Responsabilités

  • Coordinating peer review activities for book proposals, including reviewer invitations, communications, tracking deadlines, and processing reviewer payments and gratis copy requests.
  • Supporting Acquisition Editors with proposal administration, including preparing documentation for new-in-paperback proposals and handling standard proposal declines.
  • Providing editorial and administrative support for digital publishing initiatives, including Oxford Intersections, Law Pro, Reference products, and Audience Editor projects.
  • Assisting with Open Access administration, including processing funding applications and maintaining records.
  • Coordinating research book prize nominations, submissions, payments, and communications with awards committees.
  • Producing reports, processing requests, maintaining data and records, and supporting departmental documentation.
  • Acting as a key liaison between editorial teams and other departments to ensure efficient information flow and smooth publishing operations.
  • Working across systems such as SAP and Biblio to maintain accurate records and support reporting requirements.

About the Role
Introduction

Are you a highly organized administrator with a keen eye for detail and an interest in academic publishing? This is an exciting opportunity to join Oxford University Press (OUP) as an Editorial Administrator within our Research Editorial team.

In this role, you will support the acquisition and commissioning activities that bring world-class academic and reference content to a global audience. Working closely with Acquisition Editors, authors, reviewers, and cross-functional colleagues, you will play an integral role in ensuring projects progress smoothly from proposal through to publication and beyond.

The Opportunity

As an Editorial Administrator, you will provide editorial and administrative support to the Research & Reference Acquisitions team. Key responsibilities include:
